No matter where you’re from or where you live, there are definitely some dishes that you associate with the feeling of home. Whether it’s a roast that your grandmother made every Christmas or the cake that your father baked for all of your childhood birthdays, food can be so deeply tied to memories. And even if you move to a new country, eating the cuisine of your homeland can be the best medicine in aiding homesickness.

So when one man told his girlfriend that he wanted their apartment to be an Indian food-free zone, it’s no surprise that she didn’t take that well. Below, you’ll find the full story that he posted on Reddit, as well as some of the replies heated readers shared.

After moving in together, this man realized that him and his girlfriend have different culinary preferences

But instead of accepting their differences, he requested that she never cook Indian food at home

Food is deeply tied to our cultures

Food is so much more than a necessity. Sure, we all have to eat it multiple times a day to sustain ourselves, but it can offer us plenty of benefits aside from simply staying alive. Sharing a meal with friends or loved ones can help us bond and strengthen relationships, and certain foods are used to celebrate special occasions and holidays. Green bean casserole and pumpkin pie probably wouldn’t be so special if I ate them every day, but because I only make them on holidays, they fill me with warm, delicious memories (as well as food)!

According to Wathi, “food is often used as a means of retaining their cultural identity.” Each culture has their own unique cuisine that has been passed down from generations, using the food that was available to them in their native land. When we continue to create those recipes today, we’re not only cooking, but acknowledging and appreciating the people who came before us who shaped this cuisine.

And asking someone to completely avoid their culture’s cuisine, especially in their own home, is asking them to eliminate a part of their identity. On the other hand, if this man had asked his girlfriend to introduce him to Indian cuisine and had asked the cultural significance of various dishes and ingredients, he could have understood his partner on a much deeper level.

Indian food is a vast and diverse cuisine

Indian cuisine in particular is a vast and diverse landscape of food. Because the nation itself is so large and diverse, each region has their own culinary traditions. The Association for Asian Studies also notes that “food in India is an identity marker of caste, class, family, kinship, tribe affiliation, lineage, religiosity, ethnicity, and increasingly, of secular group identification.”

The typical Indian meal is described as having a main starch, which might be rice, sorghum or wheat, vegetable or meat curry, cured and dried vegetable dishes in sauces, and thick lentil soups. When it comes to condiments, the Association for Asian Studies says masalas, plain yogurt, and vegetable raitas are popular, as well as salted pickles, fresh herbal and cooked chutneys, papadums, and sometimes dessert.

Each component of the meal can also hold more significance than simply being delicious. For example, rice has been seen as a “powerful symbol of both hunger and want as well as fulfillment and fertility,” the AAS notes. In fact, until the late 1800’s, only the wealthy had access to rice, while lower classes ate millet and sorghum. Because rice has been seen as a symbol of fertility, it has been used as a part of the marriage rites in many castes.

Looking down on another culture’s cuisine is rooted in prejudice not preference

Although we’re all allowed to have our own preferences when it comes to food, it’s surprising that this man is so against Indian food, considering that it’s one of the most popular cuisines in the world. According to TimeOut, Indian food is the 5th most popular cuisine in the world at the moment.

And as many of the commenters on this post pointed out, this man’s belief that he doesn’t like Indian food at all might be rooted in a bit of racism. The BBC addressed this same topic when a tweet went viral a few years ago after a white professor claimed that “Indian food is terrible.” In response, first generation American Saira Rao said, “Having white people trash Indian food is extremely triggering as an Indian who has been told that I smell weird, that my food smells weird and that Indians [expletive] on the street which is why everything we are smells bad.”

Anita Mannur also detailed for NBC News that she faced racism as an Indian child growing up in Australia, often being called expletives combine with “curry.” Instead of labeling all foreign foods as weird, or in this case “not regular,” Mannur urges us to discuss food in a way that doesn’t exoticize it or reduce complex, hugely varied cuisines to reductive incorrect stereotypes.

“Terms like ‘curry’ are fraught because they carry the weight of colonial history, and that history informs what the average white person thinks when they hear the term ‘Indian food.’ Curry became a quick way for the British to describe so much of the food of India with little respect for regional difference or nuance,” Mannur explained. “So when people dismiss Indian food as ‘insane’ or ‘weird,’ it is not without historical precedent.”

Readers were quick to call the man out for how childish his behavior was

In the never-ending battle of which decade is the best, it’s the 1990s for Millennials. 61% of Gen Y feel nostalgic for the ’90s, and they’re accompanied by a surprising 37% of Gen Zers, who were mostly born in the 2000s. For Millennials, it’s a time when they were kids, carefree, and having fun.

For others, it’s all about the distinct ’90s aesthetic: grunge, vintage PCs, Seinfeld, and Kate Moss. If you find it pleasing, then you’ll probably love Nineties Anxiety. It’s the place for all things related to the ’90s. Whether it’s a nostalgia-inducing pic with an old-timey cellphone or a cool shot of a young Leo DiCaprio – they’ve got you covered!

Putting together a wedding is no mean feat. Beyond the obvious organizational questions, there are the costs, stress and general bombardment of things that need to be done. So some folks, perhaps mistakenly, believe that they can simply use their family when needed.

A woman considered receding her offer to allow her cousin to host a wedding on her land when she would not stick to any of the rules and guidelines that were given to her. Later, she shared some sizable updates about the fallout of the entire thing. We reached out to OP via Reddit and will update the story when she gets back to us. We also got in touch with wedding planner Lisa Pleasant to learn more.

We reached out to a wedding planner to hear if the stereotype of a “bridezilla” was common or not

Bored Panda got in touch with Lisa Pleasant, the owner of Lisa Pleasant Events, a wedding planning company, and she was kind enough to share some of her experiences and opinions on the infamous “bridezilla.” After all, the internet is littered with stories of brides-to-be acting downright horrible and delusional, so we wanted to hear just how common this was.

First and foremost, we wanted to hear how common it is for a bride to go a bit off the deep end when it comes to planning a wedding. “Actually, I’m going to go a bit sideways here. While Bridezillas seem to get all of the spotlight from “reality” TV shows, they are pretty few and far between in my experience. Keep in mind, the demographic of our couples are relatively established, more mature couples. That said, there are other people in the mix who are, believe it or not, neither Bridezillas nor Groomzillas. They are what we kindly refer to as “Momzillas.”

“After a few years from starting my business, I decided to be light-hearted in my contract in order to break up the legal jargon of the multi-page (unfortunately necessary) sea of words that was essentially stressful and boring. I added a full page of clauses, each named after a former client who had unexpectedly warranted a ridiculous rule set aside just to apply to them,” she shared with Bored Panda.

“The majority? Momzillas. These ranged from bringing U-Hauls of items for us to set up, to disgracing their own daughters in public, to complaining to the photographer that their daughter had more photos in the end than they did when photos were given to the couple after the wedding.”

She shared some hilarious actual demands people had given for their weddings

Lisa was also kind enough to share some real-life examples of people who were at least slightly delusional about the sort of wedding they wanted. “I’ll leave you with an example of a few clauses written after a few involved family members who shall remain unnamed.”

“The (name) Clause: Planners are not surgeons, but will make a reasonable call on whether a guest with a wine glass stem stuck near his temple should go to the hospital, even if this delays scheduled guest transportation by a few minutes.”
The (name) Clause: Client will respect Planners. Knocking over piles of chairs and throwing them at Planner’s feet is not the best start to a weekend.”
“The (name) Clause: If Client, family members, or guests exhibit inappropriate behavior at an event, including cursing at, yelling at, or otherwise degrading your planner, you will have to make the choice of who stays. Planners are 100% dismissed if said person does not either correct her/his behavior or leave the event. Planner is also not a bathroom attendant, including being given a Swiffer to go over the floors on the hour, refreshing given potpourri, or changing all of the venue’s toilet paper with Charmin Ultra Soft.”

So if you are in the market for a wedding planner who has really dealt with and seen it all, you can find more of Lisa’s work on her website or Facebook. And if you want to keep exploring weddings that went off the deep end, check out our previous articles on Bachelorette parties that went sideways or our article detailing people’s experiences with disruptive guests.

Summer is slowly creeping up on us, dear Pandas, and for those who still have some spare time in their summertime schedule, we propose to fill it with some feline goodness. This year, the biggest cat-centric convention called CatCon is taking place on August 3rd and 4th, inviting every cat lover to join them!

In anticipation of every kitty owner’s dream event, we browsed through their Instagram account and curated the most hilarious and relatable mouser memes for your entertainment. Ranging from a bit silly to sweet, they are guaranteed to make your day that much more clawsome (pawdon me).

But today we’re delving even deeper into feline celebrations, starting with Ancient Egypt and one of the most important cat figures, the goddess Bastet. She had the head of a cat but the body of a woman, and was the deity of protection.

Tabbies played several roles in Egyptian society, from being seen as guardians of the home that brought protection and good fortune to the household to representing the powerful kings and gods. One of the reasons for their popularity was their dual nature. On one hand, they are obedient, protective, and nurturing, and on the other, they can be fierce and aggressive. Together, these qualities, along with loyalty and independence, are what paralleled them to deities.

They were not only associated with the divine but they were also bred and sacrificed to the gods. Cats were often mummified and buried in elaborate coffins that later were offered to temples as a sign of gratitude to the deities. One mummy from the National Museum of Natural History is in the shape of an elegantly seated feline. The mouser was tightly wrapped in linen, and its features were painted in black ink.

To honor these pets, wealthy families dressed them in jewels and fed them fancy treats. More interestingly, cat owners would often shave their eyebrows as a sign of mourning for a lost companion and grieve until they grow back.

The Egyptian Mau is believed to be a breed that directly connects the modern world to the ancient one. It’s distinguished by its grace, flexibility, and the unique spots that cover its coat. The word “Mau” means “cat” in ancient Egyptian, highlighting the historical and cultural significance of these animals.

Meanwhile, in Japan, cats are celebrated in the form of the “Maneki-Neko,” or the beckoning cat. In the Land of the Rising Sun, felines embody the symbols of good luck, prosperity, protection, and wealth. The iconic “Maneki-Neko” is often seen in shop windows and homes as a figurine with a raised paw and a koban coin, beckoning customers or wealth toward it.

Japanese folklore also tells stories of “Bakeneko” and “Nekomata,” mythical cat creatures with supernatural abilities that include shapeshifting. They are portrayed as protectors and tricksters, tormenting humans and creating chaos everywhere they go. Which, to this day, evokes a mysterious sense of beauty around cats in modern Japan.

In Turkey, cats are esteemed companions, celebrated for their grace and intelligence. Their role in Turkish homes surpasses the household pet name - they are protectors, confidants, and symbols of good luck. This respect for them is reflected in folklore and literature, where they appear as figures of wisdom combined with mystery and allure.

Among the various breeds that run around Turkey’s streets, the Van Cat is a kind of feline that captures the essence of this country's affection for them. It’s distinguished by its white fur and colored markings that only appear on the head and tail. Perhaps the most interesting characteristic is its infatuation with water. Known as “swimming cats,” they are great in water, adding more mystery to their behavior.

Nowadays, in bustling Turkish coffee houses, you’ll often find cats lounging on the tables or purring somewhere comfortably tucked away in a corner. They have become a cherished part of coffee culture within the country, where they symbolize hospitality and relaxation and bring good luck to the establishment. In Istanbul, felines are so beloved that they have their own neighborhoods and caretakers who provide food and shelter.

Coming to an end, we’re finishing off with the royalty - the Siamese cat, which is known for its grace and nobility in Thailand. The bond between these felines and Thai royalty is rooted in centuries of history. Believed to be symbols of sophistication and charm, they were pampered and adored as palace pets, gaining their esteemed status.

They were also often presented as prestigious gifts in diplomatic exchanges, signifying honor and respect between nations. There are certain things that you probably shouldn’t do in a church. Always remember to take off your hat, watch your language, refrain from gossiping, and silence your cell phone. And apparently, thou shalt not write any negative reviews either.

One tradesman recently posted in the Malicious Compliance subreddit detailing how he found himself in a sticky situation with a church all because he called them out online. Below, you’ll find the full story, as well as some of the replies amused readers shared.

We’re expected to be on our best behavior when in a church

Online reviews can be incredibly important for businesses nowadays

In this day and age, online reviews can be extremely important for businesses. Word of mouth is a great way to bring in new customers, and that word can spread even faster and farther when patrons are posting pics on social media and detailing their great experiences on the internet. On the other hand, however, this means that negative reviews can hold a lot of weight if there aren’t hundreds of positive reviews to balance them out.

According to Invesp, a whopping 90% of customers read reviews online before deciding to visit a business, and 88% of consumers trust these reviews just as much as they trust personal recommendations from friends. These reviews even affect how much patrons are willing to spend, as customers are likely to spend 31% more on companies with “excellent” reviews.

72% of consumers say that great reviews make them trust a local business more, and 92% of customers will be happy to go to a local business if they have at least a 4-star rating online. At the same time, negative reviews can deter potential customers. Invesp reports that a single negative review on Yelp can cost a business 30 customers. So it’s recommended for businesses to reply to negative comments and see if they can fix their mistakes to ensure their ratings don’t fall too low.

Some businesses consider negative reviews to be defamation

While it’s important for businesses to have great reviews, they should actually earn their reviews, rather than simply scaring off anyone who wants to critique the company. And I can’t imagine positive reviews are particularly important for places such as a church. But because this church decided to pursue legal action, they must have felt like the review posted about them was libel.

According to Freedom Forum, libel is “the publication of false statements that damage someone’s reputation.” This might also be referred to as defamation. But libel does not include opinions a person has had; it only includes specific facts that can be proven untrue. For example, if the man in this story accused the church of not paying him and that was untrue, the church would be onto something.

Assuming, however, that the man was telling the truth about the church owing him money, it’s questionable why they would try to pursue legal action. In fact, as many commenters pointed out, he could have simply sued the church first for never paying him what they owed. There’s even an example online of how to handle a potential situation where companies refuse to pay a worker in Germany.

It’s not always worth it to pursue legal action over online reviews

The laws will be different in every country, so depending on where you live, it may or may not be possible to actually attempt to sue over a bad review. A business may decide to sue for defamation, but it’s important that they’re able to prove that the claim made against their business actually was false. They might also need to prove to the court how the negative review has impacted their business or profits.

But this doesn’t come without any risks. Going through the entire process of taking legal action can reflect poorly on the company if it doesn’t go their way. And in general, people are allowed to express their opinions on a company online. So O’Flaherty Law notes on their site that it’s typically wise to seek an alternative solution, to avoid the hassle and costs of a lawsuit.

“In many cases, pursuing legal action for a bad review can be challenging and costly and may yield a different outcome than what is anticipated,” the law firm explains. “It is generally encouraged for businesses to consider alternative strategies to manage their online reputation effectively and to contact a litigation attorney for additional support on the matter.”

We would love to hear your thoughts on this situation in the comments below, pandas. And then, if you’re interested in another Bored Panda article featuring bad reviews, look no further than right here!

Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun announced on Monday (March 25) his intentions to leave the airplane manufacturer at the end of the year. Boeing’s chairman and the head of the commercial airplane unit are also stepping down from their positions.

Boeing‘s chairman, Larry Kellner, will not stand for re-election as a board director and will be succeeded instead by the former Qualcomm CEO, Steve Mollenkopf.

Furthermore, Stan Deal, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, is retiring. Stephanie Pope, Boeing’s chief operating officer since January, is set to take his place immediately.

The move comes two months after an Alaska Airlines 737 Max aircraft lost a door mid-flight, leaving passengers close to a gaping hole and forcing an emergency landing at Portland International Airport.

In a preliminary investigation, US regulators found that four critical bolts meant to hold the so-called door plug in place were missing from the aircraft, according to the BBC.

Following the incident—which resulted in no fatalities—seven passengers filed a lawsuit against Boeing, Alaska Airlines, and aerostructure manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems.

In a letter to Boeing employees shared on Monday, Calhoun called the Alaska Airlines incident “a Watershed moment for Boeing.”

“We must continue to respond to this accident with humility and complete transparency. We also must inculcate a total commitment to safety and quality at every level of our company,” the text reads.

“The eyes of the world are on us,” Calhoun wrote, announcing his departure plans. “We are going to fix what isn’t working, and we are going to get our company back on the track towards recovery and stability.”

“I am confident that the way we have confronted these challenges, and how we are responding to this specific moment, is establishing standards for future generations of employees and will be woven into the fabric of how we operate for decades to come.”

In a letter to Boeing employees, Calhoun referred to the Alaska Airlines incident as a “Watershed moment” for the airplane manufacturer

Earlier this month, the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) revealed that a six-week audit of the 737 Max production process at Boeing had found “multiple instances where the companies failed to comply with manufacturing quality control requirements.”

The most significant Boeing scandal took place five years ago when two of its brand-new 737 Max planes were lost in almost identical accidents that cost 346 lives.

The company was accused of concealing information from safety officials about changes to an automated flight control system known as MCAS.

Ultimately, Boeing agreed to pay $2.5bn to settle fraud charges and admitted deception, though it formally pleaded not guilty in court hearings.

Social media users were not too surprised by the news

The airlines that purchase Boeing’s planes have recently raised concerns regarding the quality of the aircrafts.

Michael O’Leary, CEO of the low-cost carrier Ryanair, which flies only Boeing 737 planes, said that the company spent 48 hours going through the company’s planes, checking them for errors or omissions.

While they haven’t found anything alarming during the checks, O’Leary revealed that they regularly deal with minor problems, such as tools under floorboards and missing seat handles. According to the CEO, this shows “a lack of attention to detail quality issues in Boeing.”

Meanwhile, United Airlines, which flies Boeing jets for more than 80% of its mainline fleet, has expressed disappointment in quality issues at Boeing and a delay in its scheduled deliveries, as per
    CNN.

Shares of Boeing jumped 4% in pre-market trading following the news of Calhoun’s resignation, the news channel reports.

The 66-year-old, who has no engineering background, became CEO of the company in January 2020.

    People agreed with Calhoun’s decision

Delivery robots have terrorized certain students at an American university to the point of prompting a campaign for their removal and financial compensation claims.

In January 2023, East Carolina University (ECU) introduced Starship delivery robots to “offer innovative service to the campus community,” as per the institution’s press release published last year.

But to 19-year-old Sierra Isaacs, a freshman at the college, the small, six-wheeled vehicles aimed at facilitating certain services have become nothing but a nuisance.

“I’ve been hit a total of three times since I moved on campus in August 2023,” Sierra, who uses a walker to get around as a result of an undisclosed disability, told Bored Panda.

In fact, Starship delivery robots pose a safety risk to other disabled people, a student-led campaign stated through a petition against the autonomous machines.

“The robot delivery system is not only expensive and ineffective but dangerous to students,” the petition, created by Aiden Swiatkowski, read.

A campaign was launched to remove Starship delivery robots from East Carolina University due to safety concerns

It further claimed: “The delivery robots block cut curbs, cramp walkways, ram into students, and take away jobs from students and citizens.

“Starship Technologies and the universities they work with, including East Carolina University, have been made aware of these concerns multiple times and have continuously failed to alleviate these issues.

“At this point, the only way to ensure the safety and independence of Pirates of all abilities is to get this product off our campus.”

Sierra, who studies interpersonal communications, is the communication chair for the Disability Advocacy and Support Club at ECU.

She recalled that the first time she had been hit by one of the Starship robots, it was “just a headbutt into my walker as the robot was dodging another student.”

19-year-old Sierra Isaacs, a freshman at the college who uses a walker, claims she was hit three times by the robots

She added: “The second hit was a robot clipping my back wheel while I was going down a ramp in the dark.

“The third and most significant hit was [at] the crosswalk, which left my walker damaged and my leg bruised.”

The student claimed that the robots constantly block the curb cuts, leaving those who rely on wheels for mobility trapped in the road.

“Every safety concern has been reported to both East Carolina University and Starship Technologies in a timely manner,” she said.

Bored Panda has contacted Starship and ECU for comment.

The student-led campaign against the robots created an Instagram page to share videos of the machines often taking up sidewalk space

According to Sierra, upon her walker being allegedly broken by one of the smart engines, Starship Technologies offered a $100 settlement agreement, which would require her to stop raising awareness about the safety concerns.

Bored Panda has since reviewed documents sent by Sierra that confirm her claims.

“The robots have made it more difficult for everybody to get around,” Sierra said.

She continued: “I’ve had my able-bodied friends complain to me about the robots stopping mere inches from their feet and tripping them up.

“Students on skateboards and bikes have also been having issues with getting hit.

“For me, these robots double my pedestrian commute time or make it impossible.”

“The only way to ensure the safety and independence of Pirates of all abilities is to get this product off our campus,” a petition stated

“I use a walker, which takes up about the same amount of space as a wheelchair.

“When a robot is in the middle of the sidewalk, ramp, or cut curb, I simply cannot pass it.

“This results in me being stuck until someone is able to help me.”

The student-led campaign against the robots has created an Instagram page to share videos of the machines often taking up sidewalk space. Sometimes, the robots appear in groups and completely bar bypassers’ way.

Sierra acknowledged that communication with ECU and Starship Technologies had been easy but unproductive.

She also noted that her discontent wasn’t shared by all on campus. “Many students love the robots and order delivery regularly,” she said.

“These robots double my pedestrian commute time or make it impossible,” Sierra said

Sierra continued: “They see them as cute and novel, partially because of Starship’s marketing making pointed efforts to humanize their product.

“I’ve had many students respond defensively to me shedding light on the issues, posting things by my dorm room’s door, like ‘robot lives matter,’ and yelling ‘handicap b***h’ at my door in the middle of the night.”

The exasperated student has even lost friends since creating the campaign’s Instagram account. “It’s really heartbreaking to see my peers prioritize these robots over my safety. It makes me feel unwelcome on campus,” she said.

Starship Technologies, an Estonian company, has been offering autonomous robots since January 2019, with George Mason University in Virginia becoming the first academic institution in the US to implement the delivery service.

It wasn’t long before trouble started, as in October 2019, a University of Pittsburgh student flagged issues with the robots blocking access to sidewalks.

Emily Ackerman, a fifth-year Ph.D. student working with the University of Pittsburgh’s Shoemaker Immunosystems Lab, described her experience with the Starship robots in a series of posts on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Starship Technologies, an Estonian company, has been offering autonomous robots since January 2019

Emily, who uses a wheelchair and relies on curb cuts to access the sidewalk when she crosses the street, claimed one of the Starship robots idled in a curb cut, blocking her entrance from the street to the sidewalk, as per Trib Live.

“It’s terrifying because there is nothing I can do at the moment,” Emily wrote at the time, explaining that she could be trapped in the street and in the path of cars if the robots didn’t move out of the way fast enough.

The number of complaints against the bots has been difficult to track due to the lack of available data to measure the issue.

Nevertheless, Starship Technologies, which is the start-up led by one of the early developers of Skype, has shown no sign of stopping, as it recently raised $90 million in a new funding round, Forbes reported last month.

According to the company, its robots are active in 80 locations, including in the US, UK, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, and Finland, and they have carried out more than six million deliveries since it was founded 10 years ago.

Rebel Wilson is ready to reveal all, even before her memoir, “Rebel Rising,” hits the shelves. The “Pitch Perfect” star recently accused actor Sacha Baron Cohen of using legal threats to prevent her from staining his reputation in the book.

“I will not be bullied or silenced by high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers,” the Australian actress wrote in an Instagram Story on Monday (March 25). “The ‘a**shole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is Sacha Baron Cohen.”

Last week, Rebel announced that one chapter of her book—set to be released April 2—would expose the inappropriate behavior of a former male co-star.

“I wrote about an a**hole in my book. Now, said a**hole is trying to threaten me,” she shared on Friday (March 22).

Rebel Wilson accused Sacha Baron Cohen of threatening her with lawyers over the publication of her memoir, Rebel Rising

“He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers. He’s trying to stop the press from coming out about my new book. But the book WILL come out, and you will all know the truth.”

Rebel and Sacha starred together in the 2016 film “The Brothers Grimsby,” which sees the “Borat” star as Nobby Butcher, a man from the UK town of Grimsby who discovers that his long-lost brother is a spy. Rebel plays Nobby’s girlfriend, Dawn.

The 44-year-old actress had already spoken out about her negative experience working with Sacha on the film during a 2014 interview on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show.

The Australian actress claims Sacha hired “PR crisis managers” to stop her from exposing him in the book, which is set to be released on April 2nd

Speaking on the radio show, Rebel recalled how her co-star pressured her to take off her clothes for the movie.

“Every day he’s like, ‘Just go naked, it will be funny. Remember in Borat when I did that naked scene? It was hilarious,'” Rebel said.

“On the last day, I thought I’d obviously won the argument, and he got a body double to do the naked scene.”

The “Jojo Rabbit” actress also claimed that Sacha asked her to perform a lewd act that wasn’t in the script.

She said: “Then in the last scene, he was like, ‘Rebel, can you just stick your finger up my butt?’ And I went, ‘What do you mean, Sacha? That’s not in the script.'”

“And he’s like, ‘Look, I’ll just pull down my pants, you just stick your finger up my butt, it’ll be a really funny bit.'”

Rebel resolved the issue by settling on a compromise with Sacha’s character, slapping him on the butt instead, according to the Australian newspaper The Courier Mail.

The Sydney-born comedian has previously spoken out about being harassed on a film set by an unnamed actor before the #MeToo movement.

“He called me into a room and pulled down his pants,” she told People Magazine in 2022. Then, in front of his friends, the actor in question asked her to perform a sexual act that Rebel described as “awful and disgusting.”

“Because I’m a lawyer, I documented it,” she shared. “I called my rep. I got certain things in writing about what happened.”

In a 2014 interview, Rebel revealed Sacha pressured her to film a nude scene for the film

Rebel admitted she regretted working with him, though she expressed pride in summoning the courage to denounce him “amongst industry circles” and complain about the incident with her agency.

“I should have left. It wasn’t worth it. But at the same time, I was like, ‘Oh well, do the right thing, be a professional, and finish the movie.’ Now, I would never do that,” the star said.

“I found out I was like the fourth person to complain about the guy. Such gross behavior, but a lot of women have had it way worse.”

“At this point, we aren’t surprised,” someone commented

Actor and bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that he underwent a secret heart surgery to fit a pacemaker and become “more of a machine,” humorously comparing himself to his famous on-screen persona in ‘The Terminator.’

The 76-year-old action hero, who has undergone different heart surgeries over the years, posted a health update on the Arnold’s Pump Club website and opened up about getting the pacemaker.

“Last Monday, I had surgery to become a little bit more of a machine: I got a pacemaker,” said the Austria-born star.

The action hero shared a health update and said, “I want you to know I’m doing great!”

“I have to tell you, just saying this to all of you goes against so much of my upbringing in Austria, where nobody — ever — talked about medical issues. Everything related to healthcare was kept to yourself,” he went on to say. “But I’ve gotten so many messages and emails from people who were born with a bicuspid aortic valve, like me, telling me that talking about my valve replacement surgeries has given them courage and hope to deal with their own.”

The actor revealed that he was able to have his surgery on Monday, March 18, at the Cleveland Clinic and then attended a big event the following Friday.

The Hollywood star revealed he is living with a genetic heart issue and has had heart surgeries in the past

“First of all, I want you to know I’m doing great!” he said. “ … Nobody would ever have thought I started the week with a surgery.”

Having lived a life “with a genetic heart issue,” Arnold revealed that he could have kept the pacemaker a secret but knew that his fans are “dealing with” their own “health challenges.”

“I want you to know you aren’t alone,” said the Batman & Robin actor. “And if you’re putting something off out of fear, I hope I inspire you to listen to your doctors and take care of yourself.”

As he shared the update, Arnold Schwarzenegger included an emotional message to remind people that they are not alone in their health struggles or their fight against a medical condition or disease

He provided a special message to the Arnold’s Pump Club subscribers and reiterated that they “are never alone here.”

“This village is a place for us to be open and honest because it’s impossible to be truly positive when you keep everything bottled up,” he added. “That’s what Arnold’s Pump Club is all about. There are weights that none of us can lift alone. But together, we can lift anything — we can lift up the world. You are never alone here.”

Kevin Bacon is all set to relive some cinematic nostalgia by attending a real-life prom at the age of 65.

The star announced to a massive throng of high school students that he would be making an appearance at Payson High School’s final prom in Payson, Utah, this year. Now, this isn’t just any high school that the actor has picked out. It’s the very same school where his iconic movie Footloose was filmed back in 1984.

Kevin made the announcement on Friday to the high schoolers after the students launched a full-fledged social media campaign dubbed #BacontoPayson, where they called for the actor to visit their high school before its scheduled relocation at the end of the school year. Students recreated movie scenes and choreographed videos to get the Mystic River actor’s attention.

Even Utah Gov. Spencer Cox joined in on the campaign and asked the actor in November to join the celebrations, marking the 40th year of Footloose’s release.

In a video recorded last November, the Utah governor said, “We are so excited that next year will be 40 years of Footloose. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, I was eight when it came out and we loved it – Utah has never been the same.”

After the #BacontoPayson campaign made the rounds on the internet, Kevin made a delightful announcement to the school’s students and said he would be joining them for prom.

Kevin Bacon surprised the high schoolers and announced that he would be attending their prom

“I have been so impressed with everything that’s been going on there with this crazy idea to get me to come back,” he said during a video call with the students. “I’ve been amazed at the work that all of you have been putting into this, with the musical and the flash mobs and the re-creations.”

“It’s really inspirational, so thank you. Thank you. And I’m gonna come. I gotta come!” Kevin said.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the actor’s iconic film Footloose

The actor will be attending the prom as part of his work with his foundation, SixDegrees.org, which “supports impactful initiatives to sustain and enrich local communities,” according to their website.

“We’ve worked so hard this year and done our absolute best to make this crazy dream a reality,” said Payson High School Student Body President Rubie Raff after Kevin’s announcement. “I can’t believe that it’s finally happening and that we can say we did it! It was all worth it—we got Kevin back to Payson!”

Olivia Colman touched upon a persisting issue in Hollywood during a candid conversation on CNN’s “The Amanpour Hour.”

Despite having an Oscar tethered to her name, the British star said she would earn more if her name was “Oliver” instead of “Olivia.”

The actress appeared on the show with director Thea Sharrock to promote the film “Wicked Little Letters.”

“Research suggests that [women have] always been big box office draws,” Olivia told host Christiane Amanpour.

“Don’t get me started on the pay disparity,” she went on to say. “But male actors get paid more because they used to say they draw in the audiences.”

Olivia Colman spoke about the long-standing issue of the gender pay gap in Hollywood

“But actually, that hasn’t been true for decades, but they still like to use that as a reason to not pay women as much as their male counterparts in our industry,” added the Fleabag actress.

When Christiane asked the actress if she had experienced pay disparity herself, Olivia replied, “I’m very aware that if I was Oliver Colman, I’d be earning a f— of a lot more than I am.”

She said she knew of one instance of pay disparity that saw a “12,000% difference”

“I know of one pay disparity, which is a 12,000% difference. Do the maths, I know,” she added.

In addition to two Academy Award nominations in the past, Olivia won the Best Actress in a Leading Role Oscar for her role of Queen Anne in The Favourite. She also finds herself in the credit list of Heartstopper and Secret Invasion, and she also stepped into the shoes of Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix‘s The Crown.

This isn’t the first time Olivia has opened up about the double standards in the film industry. She recently spoke about how the idea of men bringing a bigger audience to theaters is a “lie.”

The actress said it’s a lie that men “get more bums on seats,” which she believes is an excuse that has been used to justify paying male actors more than their female counterparts

When asked whether filmmakers are now ushering in a new era of cinema with “fully-fleshed female characters,” Olivia said: “There’ve been many fantastic female-centric films which have moved me.”

“And some of the biggest-grossing films, Barbie, Bridesmaids, Thelma & Louise, are led by women,” she told Radio Times magazine.

“People say men get paid more because they get more bums on seats. That’s a lie! It can be proved in the box office. I don’t know why we’re still having to discuss it!” she added.

A Florida man who experienced severe migraines on a weekly basis for a period of four months was found to have a parasitic infection in his brain. He explained that his migraines were very painful and were not responding to medications, according to the case report, which was published in the American Journal of Case Reports.

Florida health officials stated that the 52-year-old patient denied visiting high-risk travel areas, with his only notable travel history being a trip to the Bahamas two years prior.

It was when the unidentified man was asked about his diet that doctors were able to get a better understanding of the situation.

A Florida man contracted neurocysticercosis, a parasitic infection of the brain, after eating undercooked bacon

The patient claimed to consume a regular diet, but he acknowledged a habit of eating lightly cooked, non-crispy bacon for most of his life.

Doctors eventually diagnosed him with neurocysticercosis, which is a condition caused by an infection from a pork tapeworm.

“It is very rare for patients to contract neurocysticercosis outside of classic exposures or travel, and such cases in the United States were thought to be nonexistent,” the report reads.

The study states that undercooked pork consumption is a theoretical risk factor for neurocysticercosis and that “it is historically very unusual to encounter infected pork in the United States.”

“It is very rare for patients to contract neurocysticercosis outside of classic exposures or travel, and such cases in the United States were thought to be nonexistent,” the report reads

Neurocysticercosis is the most common parasitic infection of the brain and a leading cause of epilepsy in the developing world, especially in Latin America, India, Africa, and China, according to the National Library of Medicine.

People become infected by consuming undercooked food—particularly pork—water contaminated with tapeworm eggs, or through poor hygiene practices, the World Health Organization (WHO) explains.

The report notes that neurocysticercosis “is virtually nonexistent” in areas of the world that have banned pork consumption, which highlights the strong link between swine and this disease.

Doctors concluded that the 52-year-old likely contracted the parasite via “autoinfection.”

He may have gotten an intestinal tapeworm—called taeniasis—from eating undercooked bacon that had larval cysts in it and then, after improper handwashing, eaten the tapeworm eggs that he had excreted in feces, leading to neurocysticercosis.

Neurocysticercosis is a leading cause of epilepsy in the developing world

“It can only be speculated, but given our patient’s predilection for undercooked pork and benign exposure history, we favor that his cysticercosis was transmitted via autoinfection after improper handwashing after he had contracted taeniasis himself from his eating habits,” the report reads.

The patient was treated with antiparasitic and anti-inflammatory medications, but the report does not mention whether his symptoms subsided after treatment.

The most common symptoms of neurocysticercosis are seizures and headaches.

However, patients may also experience confusion, lack of attention to people and surroundings, difficulty with balance, or excess fluid around the brain (called hydrocephalus), according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Treatment for the infection varies and may include antiepileptic medications to prevent seizures, antiparasitic medications, and surgery to remove cysts or to put in a tube (shunt) to redirect the fluid in the patient’s brain.

People stressed the importance of cooking their food and maintaining proper hygiene practices

Timothée Chalamet was spotted in New York City embodying a young Bob Dylan for the upcoming musical drama, “A Complete Unknown,” about the famed songwriter.

The film’s production, which commenced just over a week ago, generated significant buzz as it turns the clock back to the 1960s and portrays Bob’s early life. Timothée, known for his versatile acting skills and ability to dive deep into his roles, was seen fully engrossed in his character of the world-renowned musician on the bustling streets of New York on Sunday.

Before the cameras started rolling, the Dune actor mingled behind the scenes, effortlessly blending into the environment that once nurtured Dylan’s early musical career.

Clad in a wardrobe that mirrored Dylan’s signature Beatnik style, Timothée donned a brown suede jacket, a hallmark of Bob’s attire, paired with a button-down shirt and blue jeans. The look encapsulated the music legend’s aesthetic during his formative years in New York City.

The actor was spotted on a city bench by himself, dressed in his Bob Dylan look for the movie

Timothée was also spotted shooting into the night for the James Mangold-directed movie.

“It’s not really a Bob Dylan biopic,” James said about the film in the podcast “Happy Sad Confused” last year.

Sporting a mop of curly hair, just like the music icon, Timothée Chalamet was seen walking down the streets

“It’s a kind of ensemble piece about this moment in time in the early ’60s in New York, and this 17-year-old kid with $16 in his pocket who hitchhikes his way to New York to meet Woody Guthrie, who is being kept in the hospital and is dying of a nerve disease, and sings Woody a song that he wrote for him and befriends Pete Seeger, who is like a son to Woody, and Pete sets him up with gigs in local clubs. And there you meet Joan Baez and all these other people who are part of this world,” he added.

Singer Bob Dylan has been involved in the making of the movie, the director, James Mangold, said

The director also noted how Bob has also been involved in the making of the film.

“I’ve spent several wonderfully charming days in his company just one-on-one talking to him, yes. And I have a script that’s personally annotated by him and treasured by me,” James said.

Blake Lively extended an apology for a recent social media post about Photoshop fails amid the revelation of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis.

The 36-year-old actress wrote an apologetic message on her Instagram Stories on Friday after her initial post, which seemed to be her participation in the humor aimed at Kate Middleton’s photo-editing revelations.

“I’m sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this. I made a silly post around the ‘Photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always,” Blake wrote in her apology note.

In her initial post, Blake shared a campaign for her sparkling mixer brand, Betty Buzz. The campaign appeared to be a play off the controversy surrounding 42-year-old Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day photo that was later confirmed to be edited.

“I’m so excited to share this new photo I just took today to announce our 4 new @bettybuzz & @bettybooze products! Now you know why I’ve been MIA,” Blake captioned the carousel of promotional photos for her sparkling mixer brand.

In the first picture in the series, Blake was pictured in a deliberately badly Photoshopped image, holding a drink from her beverage brand. While lounging next to a pool, Blake smiled while a disproportionate lemon fell from the sky above her. Her right hand was also made to seem like the victim of bad Photoshopping, as her thumb appeared abnormally large. The chair, meanwhile, was a whole problem on its own.

The actress initially posted a promotional post for her beverage brand that appeared to poke fun at the recent photo-editing controversy

The Gossip Girl alum’s post appeared to be poking fun at the controversy around the Mother’s Day photo released by the Princess of Wales with her three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

What initially seemed like a sweet Mother’s Day photo sparked widespread conversation after photo agencies withdrew the picture for alleged manipulation shortly after it was released.

Eagle-eyed observers noticed several unnatural elements within the image and identified about 16 editing errors, which included Princess Charlotte’s hair abruptly ending as if sliced off. Prince Louis’s finger appeared unnaturally severed, and Princess Kate’s hair looked suspiciously airbrushed, in addition to other glaring mistakes. The discrepancies in the photograph fueled debates and discussions about the authenticity of the family’s holiday snapshot.

Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day post with her three children appeared obviously Photoshopped to some keen observers

Kate eventually admitted that the photograph was edited and apologized.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,” the Princess of Wales said.

Blake’s “Photoshop fail” post came as part of the jokes around Kate’s editing controversy.

People had mixed feelings about the apology.

“Blake wasn’t the only one to make snide comments but she at least admitted she was wrong and apologized. Goes to show you should never pass judgment on others when you don’t know what they are going through,” said one comment on Facebook.

Fans had mixed reactions after Blake Lively posted an apology about her “silly posts around the ‘Photoshop fails'”

“People love to be mean ! Let this be a lesson for all !! YOU DONT KNOW WHATS GOING ON IN SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE,” said one comment, while another added, “Everyone’s always sorry when they find out people are sick. Just mind your own business and be a good person.”

“It takes a person with a certain amount of moral character to apologize and she did so I find that acceptable and I’m sure Kate does as well,” read another comment.

Days after the buzz around the photo-editing phenomenon, Kate announced on March 22 that she was diagnosed with cancer.

The Princess of Wales released a video message on Friday and revealed that she underwent abdominal surgery in January.

“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I’m so grateful,” the princess said.

While it was initially believed her condition was non-cancerous, tests eventually “found cancer had been present,” she said. The announcement came after months of speculation about her health and her noticeable absence from the public.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” Kate said.

“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

The princess admitted that the cancer diagnosis was a “huge shock.”

“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she added.

Kate started chemotherapy in late February, and the Prince and Princess of Wales chose Friday to reveal the cancer diagnosis to the public because it was the same day Easter school holidays began for their three children, a royal source told CNN.

“It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” Kate continued.

The princess revealed that she and her husband, Prince William, have been doing everything to manage the situation for their “young family”

Following the public announcement, King Charles said through a Buckingham Palace spokesperson that he is “so proud” of his daughter-in-law for “her courage in speaking as she did.”

She and Charles have been receiving treatment at the same London hospital, allowing the latter to stay in “the closest contact” with her, the spokesperson said.

He and his wife, Queen Camilla, will “continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time,” the statement added.

It is unclear what type of cancer Kate was diagnosed with.

“We will not be sharing any further private medical information. The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson said about her diagnosis.

Following Blake Lively’s apology, several fans were glad that the actress stepped up

Australian tradesmen reached their breaking point when they destroyed a concrete driveway after their client refused to pay them and left them with no other choice. It took the police’s involvement to resolve the heated dispute.

37-year-old Damian Hallett and his 39-year-old business partner, Jamie Sommerville, work at Clare Concreting, a concrete contractor company in Clare, Australia.

Nevertheless, the men lost their cool after destroying their hard work when a homeowner informed them he wouldn’t pay the last $3,500 of his $13,500 bill.

The laborers were seen in footage, which has gone viral, captured outside the home, where they started digging up a driveway with a bulldozer.

Damian Hallett and his business partner, Jamie Sommerville, reached their breaking point when they destroyed a concrete driveway

Damian was reportedly seen telling the stunned homeowner: “I’m ripping the whole f****ing lot out.”

“It’s not going to help anybody,” the homeowner replied.

“It’s not going to help me by leaving it here,” Damian responded.

The tradesman added: “I don’t care, I’m pulling this out.

“At the end of the day, you owe me $3500.

“I’m pulling this out, you’ve had your chances.”

The homeowner was seen continuing to argue, to which Damian counteracted: “You said you’re not going to pay me the money.

“If you’re going to pay me the money I’ll stop, if not I’m going to bulldoze now.”

However, the men were eventually able to come to an agreement, the Daily Mail reported.

Taking to his Instagram account, Damian posted a follow-up message, writing: “In relation to this, we have been paid in full on the day.

“Thanks to South Australian police involvement.”

In the initial footage of the dispute, a police officer was seen asking the construction workers to “be reasonable.”

Damian yelled at his stingy client: “I’ve got messages to say: a day ago, you said you’ll pay.”

The Australian tradesmen destroyed their hard work when a client informed them he wouldn’t pay the last $3,500 of his $13,500 bill

The police officer was filmed interjecting and saying: “Now we can go over here and talk about it.”

“You can go and talk to him,” Damian replied, adding: “I’m done talking to him. Why do I need to talk to him?”

The conflict reportedly continued before law enforcement understood the origins of the disagreement.

“Hang on, how much do you owe him?” the police officer asked the homeowner. To which Damian replied: “$3,500.”

“Well then, you need to pay him $3500,” the officer went on to tell the penny-pinching client as the tradesman applauded the cop, adding he had been “outstanding.”

The tradies told News.com.au on Thursday (March 21) that they were simply “hard-working Aussies” pushed to the limit.

Jamie said: “We don’t condone this sort of stuff, we’ve never done it before.

“We knew it was going to come to a situation.”

According to Jamie, the job was for $13,500, and the homeowner had paid $10,000 but was refusing to pay the remainder.

He explained: “The main reason why it happened was he blatantly said to us he wasn’t going to pay.”

Damian further stated: “There were no quality issues.

“He said there was a discrepancy in the invoices, he wasn’t sure what invoice was supposed to be paid when.”

You can watch footage of the conflict below:

According to Jamie, clients not paying happened “not too often,” but last year, a big company stiffed them out of $14,000, News.com.au reported.

He recalled: “We’re still recovering from that.

    “We’re just hard-working Aussies. It’s a hard trade, concreting.”

A Police spokesperson told News.com.au: “The matter was a civil dispute and SAPOL (South Australia Police) attended to ensure there was no breach of the peace occurring.”

She added: “No offenses had been committed by any persons and SAPOL did not get involved in the matter of payment between the parties.”

Incidents of builders retaliating against a homeowner are more common than one might think.

Back in January, trade workers smashed up a woman’s completed driveway after claiming dissatisfaction and payment disputes.

The homeowner in question, from Queensland, Australia, wanted her driveway paved but expressed discontentment with the standard of the work, making her withhold payment for the full total originally agreed on.

The laborers subsequently sought revenge by taking their working tools back to the woman’s new driveway before completely destroying it.

“This is my kind of petty,” a reader quipped

We’ve long noticed that pets bring an immediate sense of comfort, but they can be especially helpful for people suffering from conditions like epilepsy, depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Having an emotional support animal by their side can help them reduce loneliness, stress, and alertness to danger.

For this family, having an emotional support dog helped their daughter, who is struggling with several disorders feel more independent and confident. However, they were only able to get four years together before the pet was tragically hit by a car. The dad refused to pay the steep $2000 vet bill and found an alternative, majorly freaking out his daughter.

The purpose of having an emotional support dog is to reduce the impairment related to physical or mental health conditions

Emotional support dogs aren’t just simple pets. The purpose of having them is to reduce the impairment related to physical or mental health conditions. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that they need specific training for it. Unlike service dogs trained to perform tangible tasks for their owner, emotional support dogs help them by interacting, comforting, or being with them.

Licensed psychologist Aubrey H. Fine told Business Insider that having this type of animal can be helpful as petting calms a person who’s having a panic attack and taking care of them can provide a sense of purpose for those who have severe depression. They also prevent individuals from isolating themselves by getting them outside for walks. Additionally, knowing that a dog is guarding their home may help reduce fear related to PTSD.

The only requirement to qualify for an emotional support dog is to have a disability and an animal that helps with the symptoms. And as long as it significantly helps the person, the particular condition doesn’t really matter. There’s no registry or evaluation required as well. Instead, the doctor or mental health provider issues a letter verifying that the person needs the animal to reduce a disability.

However, unlike service dogs, they have limited access to some places, like restaurants or stores. Under US federal and state laws business owners aren’t required to let them in and they don’t have any special privileges on public transportation or airplanes.

That said, “no pets” policies don’t apply to them when it comes to housing. Landlords aren’t allowed to charge extra for tenants with emotional support dogs as well. And since the person has a letter verifying their situation, the dog is protected under the Fair Housing Act and they can send a copy to any landlord or housing provider.

Losing a pet to euthanasia is especially difficult, as the decision-making can feel like a heavy and painful responsibility

Knowing that pets play an important part in many people’s lives, losing one can be a painful experience, similar to one of a loved human. If the animal was a working, service, or therapy dog the person would not only be mourning a furry friend but also the loss of a coworker, independence, and emotional support. In cases where the individual lived alone and the pet was their only companion coming to terms with it can be even harder.

Losing a pet to euthanasia is especially difficult, as the decision-making can feel like a heavy and painful responsibility. Not being able to understand what the pet is going through can burden a person even more, while not having the funds to prolong their life can summon a sense of guilt.

During this time it’s important to be compassionate and kind as the person is dealing with loss and many conflicting emotions that come with it. Something that can provide support is surrounding yourself with people who understand your grief and what you’ve been through. Having someone to talk to through any mixed feelings associated with losing a loved pet is beneficial.

Looking after one’s emotional and physical needs will help to get through the difficult time easier too. Eating healthy, getting plenty of sleep, and exercising release happy hormones and boost the mood. Rituals like a funeral, journaling, and ways to memorialize the pet might also accelerate the healing process.

Even though at times the sadness might feel too much, healthy grief typically still allows for rays of light like joy and laughter. However, if a person gets stuck in the grieving process, and constantly feels guilty, lonely, and fearful going to grief councelling might be a good path to take toward healing.

One of the biggest and greatest values that modern western cultures and societies have is freedom. Particularly, the freedom to choose a life they want.

Not every choice is easy, though, because some choose a child-free lifestyle, but that doesn’t slide with folks who are of a more traditional approach. At the very least, it can be annoying.

But there is a dedicated place to celebrate and debate the concept of antinatalism, as seen on Reddit. Scroll down to check out some of the best memes and posts found on the subreddit and remember that it’s all to further a discussion, so join in on the debate.

The issue of antinatalism is more than just not wanting to deal with having kids. It doesn’t officially state I don’t wanna as a reason behind it, but nobody’s stopping anyone from assuming that stance.

Anywho, there are a handful of reasons why antinatalists think reproduction is problematic and those can be boiled down to 5 key concepts.

    #8 Old, But Still Awesome

    #9 This Is The Way

The most straightforward reasons in support of antinatalism are the facts that [1] life entails inevitable suffering and that [2] death is inevitable.

In other words, why put someone through a life of indeterminate length, unknown perils (instant or chronic), struggles, strives and tribulations, for it all to end in an even more unknown end is unpleasant to say the least.

This also roots into the idea of gambling with another person’s suffering. Sure, some (and, seemingly, a majority) of people turn out happy overall with the lives they lead, but there is never a guarantee for it.

By proxy, extending your gene pool is akin to gambling with another’s suffering.

Then we have the argument of I didn’t ask to be born. It is generally accepted to ask someone for permission, but how do you do that with someone who won’t even be able to make decisions until several years into their life?

The answer in the eyes of the antinatalist is to not even impose that choice by not creating that situation. But it does make you think.

Lastly, some argue that there is an axiological asymmetry—the concept of good things and bad things not always having the same and opposing consequences when they are considered as existing or not existing—between good and bad things. With that logic, coming into existence by means of procreation always turns out to be a harmful thing.

#21 Fav Meme Of All Time

That last argument can be extended to include more global reasoning.

One of the bigger arguments is sustainable population. This, of course, refers to the idea that the Earth can support so much until it becomes unable to provide enough to people to live, let alone thrive.

Sustainable population estimates range from 650,000 to 9.8 billion, with 8 billion (with 8.1 being the current global population as of this article) being the average of what most think is sustainable.

This, of course, has an impact on how climate change and other Earth-focused issues might be affected on top of sustainability. This is besides the question of how much would be enough to stabilize the planet’s ecosystems?

Lastly, if we’re thinking about it in simple terms, not everyone truly wants to burden themselves with the vast amounts of responsibility that having kids entails. Financial, social and cultural, structural, moral and ethical—all of this multiplied by three given the current state of the economy, ecology, and world order in general. Nobody needs that stress.

There are times in life where it’s pretty easy to feel very, very alone. The truth is, while social media can leave people feeling out of touch, online content and memes have a way of revealing that we, as humans, often have a lot more in common than one might think.

The “Relatable Tweets” internet page shares the posts from X (that name didn’t age well, did it) that sum up the human experience. From suggestions that deep down all of us agree with, to elusive emotions that, finally, someone put into words. We got n touch with Signy Sheldon, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychology to learn more about empathy. So get comfortable as you scroll through, upvote your favorites and be sure to share your thoughts in the comments below.

Bored Panda got in touch with Signy Sheldon, PhD Associate Professor, Department of Psychology at McGill University and she was kind enough to share some thoughts and insights into the concept of empathy. After all, without it, relatability becomes a tad difficult. In general, we were curious about what causes humans to feel empathy.

“Empathy is a really important response to another person’s distressful situation and it comes about when we understand the emotions that a person is feeling at that time – we understand their mental state. This understanding is critical because it helps motivate us to help that person in need,” she shared.

    #6

“The situations that make us feel empathy towards another person are those that we can understand the emotional toll on that individual. For instance, if you know what it feels like to lose a parent, you are going to be more empathic to a person going through a similar situation,” she shared with Bored Panda. This is perhaps why most groups feel the need to create memes about their own community.

    #7

    #8

    #9

“However, this empathic response is going to be driven by how much you see yourself in that person. We tend to be more empathic to people that we feel are more alike than us.” At the same time, there are people out there who don’t seem to have any empathy or compassion for others so we wanted to hear her thoughts on how this happens.

    #10

    #11

    #12

“People can appear to lack empathy if they don’t understand the emotional experience of another person, either because they haven’t gone through a similar situation or can’t even imagine what that experience is like,” she shared with Bored Panda. Unfortunately, this sort of thing is a lot more common than one might think.

    #14

    #15

So we also wanted to know what people can do to cultivate empathy in their own lives. “The basis of empathy is being able to understand another individual's mental experience during a time of distress – how are they feeling and what are they thinking? Our research has shown that our episodic memory system, one that allows us to both remember our own past experiences, is fundamental for reaching this understanding and cultivating empathy.”

    #16

    #17

    #18

“So, if you want to cultivate empathy, you would want to engage in episodic memory. You can do this by recalling having experienced something similar in your own past to what a person is currently experiencing, say a bad break-up. Trying to bring that memory to mind in detail, and reflect on how you felt in your past memory.”

    #19

    #20

    #21

“What is really important is that we can use episodic memory to engage empathy, even if we don’t have a similar experience to what someone is going through. This is because we can use our episodic memory system not only to help remember the past but also to build imagined hypothetical events. Once we create these events in our minds of what another person is currently experiencing, we can simulate what they are going through and this will lead us to empathy.”

    #22

    #23

    #24

“A lot of the research on empathy has suggested that people have more empathy for others that they are similar to, so a great tool to help us become more empathic is to look at the commonalities between you and a person in distress rather than focus on the differences,” she shared. So, when in doubt, always try to focus on what is relatable, not what sets you apart from others.

Friends are supposed to support each other through thick and thin, and one can’t imagine a worse scenario than a friend going through chemotherapy. So imagine the shock and horror to learn that your so-called “friend” has decided to take her worst bridezilla impulses out on you just because you gained some weight.

A woman dropped out of a wedding as a bridesmaid after her friend mocked her for her chemo-induced weight gain. Netizens rushed to support OP and she shared some more thoughts in the comments section.

Some brides go off the deep end when it comes to planning their “dream” wedding

But one woman ended up throwing in the hat and refusing to be a bridesmaid after being insulted

The stress of wedding planning can overwhelm some people

Image credits: Yan Krukau / pexels (not the actual photo)

While it might be cliche and somewhat rooted in misogynistic tendencies, there are brides out there who fully confirm the term bridezilla. To those who are unaware, a bridezilla is just the combination of a bride and Godzilla, the city-destroying lizard. This term is used, one way or another, to describe brides who go off the deep end when planning their own weddings.

There are a couple of explanations for this. Generally speaking, the bride is the one doing the majority of the wedding planning. This often ends up being a lot of work for just one person, which, naturally, turns into resentment and stress. They lash out at people, become unreasonably demanding and generally act in an unpleasant manner.

After all, some people have an idea of a dream wedding that they have been sitting on for years, or even decades. In their mind, it has to be perfect, because it’s a once in a lifetime event. So whenever reality doesn’t match up with the fantasy that they have been building in their heads, the reaction tends to be aggressive. This can lead to bizarre decisions that end up costing friendships and more.

There is no reason to treat a friend this way

Image credits: Liza Summer / pexels (not the actual photo)

However, it’s important to note that none of this is an excuse to treat a friend the way this woman did. Even if OP wasn’t undergoing chemo, attacking her for her weight is unacceptable, rude and calls the entire relationship into question. On top of that, she makes some horrible remarks about the wedding photos being ruined. This is peak entitlement, where the bride has decided that her personal preferences have become more important than anything else in the world.

There is some chance that OP’s friend is simply very stressed and never learned to control her anger. This doesn’t excuse the behavior, but at least explains how she can treat a friend this way. Alternatively, she was never really OP’s friend and this event was simply the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Either way, OP is absolutely in the right to ditch the wedding. This is not an event worth enduring abuse over. After all, she will just “ruin” OP’s wedding pictures, so she is basically doing her a favor. All in all, this is a pretty classic example of how not to treat your friends. Regardless of OP’s excuses or if she apologizes later, it’s an ugly look.

OP focuses a bit on the price of the dress, but, in general, the bride knows what she is going through. At the end of the day, this is just not how a friend should act and the silver lining is that OP can go out and find new and better friends. Getting angry over the price of a dress over the feelings of a friend is sociopathic behavior. We’ve reached out to OP via Reddit for comment and will share new details and updates when she gets back to us.

OP shared some more information in the comments

Si !

It’s traditionally assumed that if someone is addicted to something, it’s more than likely that something will be of the illegal variety. But it doesn’t have to be the case. Addiction can realistically be associated with anything, even legal things.

And folks on Reddit were discussing their very legal addiction in this now-viral online thread. Things like sugar, chocolate, video games and the like. And that opened up a pretty interesting discussion.

    #1

    If I don't have caffeine regularly I get...difficult.

    Sugar

    That s**t is extremely addictive.

    #3

    The internet.

    So, what is addiction?

There is no clear-cut answer to that question. Mostly because it deals with an invisible line that is crossed, and is in many cases difficult to come back to. Or, even, in some cases, flat out impossible. In that case, it’s then a game of learning to live with it and learning to accept the consequences.

    #4

Chocolate. It's a problem. I need to stop, but I'm pretty much addicted, because without it, days are horrible.

    Buying s**t I don’t need.

    #6

Brake fluid. But I can stop any time i want.

Those who get addicted essentially cross a point where their body gets so hooked and it starts demanding to feed the addiction. If not demanding more with every time on top of it. Difficulty arises from the fact that nobody knows where this line is exactly. It’s different for everyone, and once you cross it, you don’t know it until it’s too late.

I don’t even like cats that much I just like seeing 2,000 pictures of cats and giggling about the sheer magnitude of cats lmao.

    #9

Tobacco but it's not the nicotine because when I quit a few years back I had both patches and gum which I didn't touch after the first few days but the physical act of smoking, whether it be cigarette or pipe, is what I craved. Vaping, with and without nicotine, also didn't satiate that craving. I love the taste, smell and ritual of smoking tobacco products.

The reason why some addictions are impossible to kick is because it’s hard to understand when and if you haven actually returned to the line between addiction and old, normal life. You’ve already experienced it, so you know the temptation, and thus can relapse again at any time. In that case, you often learn to maneuver around it, kinda sorta feeding it but not too much. But always living with that risk.

    #10

Alcohol. I haven't had any in 24 years, but it's best practice to assume that I'm still addicted.

One thing that many assume is that it’s all down to willpower to kick the habit. But, alas, it’s not just that.

There’s also knowledge on how to tackle the addiction as well as having the support to go through with it successfully. Oh, and it’s also understanding that addiction doesn’t make you a bad person. Even more so when you have identified it and made efforts to fend it off.

Food. I've got a terrible food addiction that's comparable to my 600 lb life type of addiction. It's a real f****n monkey on my back. I don't like to talk about it on here much though because then I get a bunch of commenters on here telling me how unhealthy that is ECT. I Know! For Christ sake, I know. Anywho, I hope everyone's having a nice day. Happy St Patricks day.

There is a lot to addiction. Part of what makes it so darned difficult. And it all starts with that initial use.

The reasons why folks start using drugs are numerous. It can be rolling with a bad crowd (or even a good one), living with a bad example of a guardian or simply curiosity. Whatever the case, that one time might be the sweet relief that your body will continue to demand from here on out.

My fiancée (in a good way). I love her so much. She’s my best friend and I literally want to spend every minute of my life with her.

    #18

    Overthinking.

Initial use can evolve into abuse, which is when the person uses the substance of recurring, oftentimes improper, basis. In other words, it’s used to a degree where it’s harmful. Some say the line to cross into abuse is when a person starts using the drug for the euphoric response or when self-treatment is performed without a doctor’s instruction.

    #19

Cleaning. Sounds good but I grew up in a hoarder house and I can literally NOT relax. I’m like 6mo pregnant right now but I still clean until it hurts .

Over time, the person might develop a tolerance for a given drug, meaning that in order to achieve whatever result that they want, more of the drug has to be used. But the more you use, the more strain there is on the body, and the more debilitating the reaction can be in the long run.

    #22

Really weird online games like candy crush, solitaire, this water bottle game where you have to match the colours. Beginning to feel like I'm only addicted bc it gives me a false sense of accomplishment lol gotta work on that asap.

    #23

Shopping. Sounds ridiculous but I don’t remember the last time I didn’t spend money for a whole 24 hours. Definitely working on it, but spending money can definitely become a problem. .

    #24

Everything. I’m an extreme addict. Anything I do, I end up doing to the max. 3 drinks 1 night a week, rapidly becomes 200 drinks in a week. Diets turn into anorexia. Quitting a diet becomes a binge eating disorder. I take up horticulture, learn how to propagate and literally bring home 500 plants in one day. I start reading again and suddenly, I have no time for anything else because I’m tearing through a whole Rubbermaid of library books a week. You don’t even want to know how what an all-consuming issue my sex drive, caffeine habit and nicotine addiction are.

Edit: I have been treated for ADHD and Bipolar type I in the past but nothing worked. I was upgraded to C-PTSD, Autism, Schizoaffective, Anorexia Nervosa, Dermatillomania and Haphephobia. Possible Dyscalculia. You can stop suggesting ADHD and Bipolar now. Lol.

And, speaking of the long run, tolerance leads to dependence. Not all dependence is considered addiction—sometimes it’s a medical means to manage a condition. However, if a given drug is being used to treat another condition, and they become dependent on it to feel good, then that’s a problem.

    #25

At the end of it all, it develops into a full blown addiction. Craving it, not being able to stop, using more than it was originally started with—all of these are clear signs of addiction. More extreme signs include use of substances in dangerous situations, like when driving a car, or using it despite the health risks.

Admit it. Internet drama is very likely a guilty pleasure of yours. Let me be the first to say that it’s OK and we accept you wholeheartedly because we’re not so different.

C’mon, who doesn’t like to see a public spat? There’s something magically taboo about that we often don’t see in public and that’s why it’s so juicy. And, hey, it’s even better when it’s corporations having at each other’s virtual throats, which this subreddit is celebrating on the daily with screenshots and posts showing just how toasty it gets.

It is no secret that social media became the dominant channels of corporate communication for many businesses. And it’s not just one-way communication, but also dialogue between the companies and their customers. As well as more rare cases of conversations between companies and other companies.

Some examples are more extreme than others, but there is a reason why companies ought to be careful with their communication.

Some might be of the opinion that bad publicity is better than no publicity, but there’s a while discussion of how that’s not always the case and where it can go south really quickly.

    #9 Wendy's vs. McDonald's

First off, Nikki G., a specialist in strategic communication, content, and writing, explained that the phrase “bad publicity is better than no publicity” was originally coined by a circus showman, who was more of an exception and not the rule.

    P. T. Barnum, the showman behind the phrase, was in a business situation where it actually made sense to generate more buzz through controversy and scandals. However, not all businesses can (or even should) thrive on it.

The other argument is that publicity is one thing, but reputation is a whole other can of beans.

    #15 The War Has Begun

Publicity is viewed as achieving awareness. There is no good or bad per se as it is just that—awareness, knowing that something exists. Reputation, on the other hand, is what carries over into people’s minds as what something is and why it should or shouldn’t matter. In turn, it is what ultimately makes people decide on whether to invest into something or not.

#18 Hope You Guys Like Them

And since we’re on the topic of terminology, Nikki also differentiates between the terms publicity and PR. TL;DR: they aren’t the same.

The purpose of PR is to manage a company’s reputation. That is done through good relationships with the public. So, good PR would mean that a given company has a positive reputation that reflects what it stands for.

    #21 More From #nationalroastday

As such, PR is a means to gain good publicity, and just that, in order to form good opinions of the company by the public. Bad publicity is not something PR does in that sense.

Now, you might have noticed previously the not always the case part when explaining how bad publicity is better than none. There are anomalies.

A good example of this is Elon Musk. His posts on X have great influence over Tesla stock prices. Heck, their fatal car autopilot crashes and the Cybertruck window failure were also a testament to how detrimental these things can be to a company’s value. But, with that said, sometimes it won’t matter and the company will continue to increase in value despite it.

Between 2018 and 2021, Tesla stock managed to jump from around $70 to $900. The reasoning behind it was that the creator’s words didn’t matter—everyone already knows what he’s like in person. However, when they buy a Tesla, they feel like they are buying a part of the future. And if something is awry, they are quick to address the issue. And it’s been consistent.

One important reason why we, as humans, love wholesome content is because it helps build and reinforce hope. Psychologists really can’t overstate just how crucial it is for us to feel like there is a chance the future will be better. Interestingly, researchers have also found a connection between hope and creativity.

After all, making something new means committing to the possibility that his unknown thing will turn out well. Positive thinking, which can be toxic in a few instances, ultimately helps keep our minds active and helps us maintain our desire to keep trying.

One important part of hope isn't just “teaching” us about the possibility that good things can happen, it’s reminding us that they have happened. Unfortunately, our brains can be a bit selective with what they remember, leading to us “conveniently” forgetting the good things we’ve gone through and just focusing on the bad.

It is important to remember that hope can be problematic in large “doses” as some people, overwhelmed by positive emotions, can start to develop unrealistic goals and expectations, which will just come to harm them in the long run. This is why real stories are important, but they need to be “tempered” with the help of a specialist, like a therapist, if a person is really going through a depressive spell.

Researchers have also established a pretty strong connection between hope and not just mental health, but physical as well. People dealing with recovery after injury and illness tend to always do better if they demonstrate or report feelings of hope, versus feelings of intermittent sadness. So when you are looking at a list of wholesome images, perhaps bookmark it for a rainy day, it could actually help.

When you and your partner decide to get married, you agree to be with one another “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health,” but what about in debt?

One newlywed recently shared on Reddit that the honeymoon stage didn’t last very long with his wife because she dropped a bombshell about her finances on him right after their wedding. Now, he’s wondering what the best course of action will be for their relationship. Below, you’ll find the full story, as well as a conversation with Julia Rodgers, Esq., CEO of Hello Prenup.

Right after getting married, this man’s wife dropped a bombshell on him regarding her finances

Later, the man provided some background information on the relationship

“By discussing finances early on, you prioritize talking about any differences in money management styles and begin to create a plan for your shared financial future”

To gain more insight on this situation, we reached out to Julia Rodgers, Esq., CEO of Hello Prenup. Julia was kind enough to have a chat with Bored Panda and discuss when the right time to start talking about finances with a partner is.

“Couples should start discussing finances as early as possible in their relationship, and certainly before making any major life commitments like moving in together or getting engaged,” Julia shared. “By talking about money early on, couples are able to understand each other’s financial habits and values, making way for better communication.”

“Transparency is key to good communication in a relationship. By discussing finances early on, you prioritize talking about any differences in money management styles and begin to create a plan for your shared financial future,” she continued.

If you are moving in with a partner or starting to share financial responsibilities, Julia says it may be helpful to plan a “money date” once a month to sit down and discuss your budget, goals, and debt management. “A regular cadence can help avoid any gaps in communication,” she shared.

When it comes to dealing with debts, Julia says being is essential. “Hiding it will erode trust,” she told Bored Panda. “The Reddit post highlights the importance of full disclosure, as the poster felt blindsided by his wife’s debt revelation.”

Image credits: Mikhail Nilov / pexels (not the actual photo)

“Being open about financial matters can help you steer clear of any surprises and ensure fairness for both spouses”

“By openly discussing debt and working together towards a debt management plan together, couples can use this vulnerability to strengthen their bond, rather than doing what this wife did – lie, and then demand their partner pay for this debt, the night after their wedding,” the expert continued. “This underscores the importance of a prenup, which forces clear boundaries and expectations regarding financial decisions within the relationship.”

Julia also noted that debts are bound to impact both partners after they get married. “Even though marrying into debt does not automatically make it your problem, it will affect how you manage your finances as a couple,” she explained. “Money plays a big role in our lives – it determines where we live, how often we can splurge on a vacation, and more. Just like the Reddit post, deception like this can destroy a relationship.”

Instance of a divorce, Julia says judges often have the power to split debts between both partners, regardless of whether it was racked up before or during the marriage. “Laws vary state by state, but this situation can be scary for couples who entered marriage without a prenup, because they will be subject to state divorce law, and they may not like the outcome,” she shared.

Julia also pointed out that this can include various types of debt, such as credit card debt, business debt, and student loans, which most millennials and Gen Zers have. “For example, if one partner has significant student loan debt or credit card debt (without a prenup), it could become a shared responsibility in a divorce,” she warns. “Take the Reddit situation, for instance – the newlywed was staring down the barrel of possibly sharing the burden of his new wife’s $160k debt.”

The takeaway should be that it’s crucial to lay all your cards on the table and talk about money early on in your relationship. “Legal safeguards like prenuptial agreements allow couples to talk about money early and often, and decide for themselves how assets or debt should be managed,” Julia noted. “Being open about financial matters, unlike the wife in this Reddit post, can help you steer clear of any surprises and ensure fairness for both spouses.”

“I cannot see how, after this level of deception, the relationship could progress forward in a healthy manner”

If you plan on getting married while you or your future spouse has significant debt, Julia says that open communication and proactive planning are key for the success of the relationship. “You must have honest discussions about the debt and how it might impact both of your financial futures,” she explained.

And as for whether or not it’s a bad idea to start a marriage under circumstances like this, Julia notes that it’s relevant whether or not your partner was forthcoming about the debt. “If they tried to hide it, this is a major red flag that could be indicative of bigger issues,” the expert says. “In this situation, the wife lied about debt until after the couple was married, and then demanded her new husband pay for her debt. I cannot see how, after this level of deception, the relationship could progress forward in a healthy manner.”

“The question that anyone in the husband’s situation has to ask is: If your partner has significant debt, are they receptive to creating a plan to mitigate the debt?” Julia told Bored Panda. “Are they willing to work together to address the financial challenges, or do they seem resistant or avoidant or expect you to just handle it for them?”

“You have to ask yourself these questions, because how they respond to this situation can provide valuable insight into their approach to working as a team in other aspects of life,” the expert pointed out. “It is clear that the wife in this Reddit post was not interested in working as a team.”

Some people believe that they’re entitled to everything and anything they want because they face a slight bit of discomfort. Sometimes, they’re not above making a massive scene to pressure others into getting what they want.

Case in point, redditor u/a_hanging_thread went on the r/entitledparents subreddit to share how one ‘mombie’ (aka ‘mom zombie’) caused a bunch of drama on a plane trip. All because she felt like she should claim an extra seat she didn’t pay for. Read on for the full story, as well as to see what the internet had to say about this sort of behavior.

Bored Panda got in touch with the author of the viral story, Dr. Thread, aka u/a_hanging_thread. They were happy to tell us more about what happened on the plane and shared their thoughts on how best to deal with entitled people eyeing other people’s seats. Scroll down for our full interview with them.

In reality, entitled passengers are becoming the norm, not a rarity

Christopher Elliott notes on USA Today that there is an entitlement problem with some travelers. According to him, fixing this entitlement mentality should start with lessening the divide between all travelers.

Elliott claims that the divide between first class and economy class is too big, leading to adults throwing tantrums if they don’t get upgrades. “It’s time for regulators to mandate a minimum amount of legroom and seat width in the back of the plane, to keep the divide from becoming too disruptive,” he says.

Another potential solution to the widespread problem is reforming loyalty programs so that travelers have more grounded expectations for their flights. Alternatively, airlines and travel companies need to set at least some basic behavior standards for travelers.

“Don’t cut in line. Don’t lean your seat all the way back into someone else’s personal space. Say ‘please’ and ‘thank you.’ If they don’t tell them what they expect, how can anyone know?” Elliott notes that the companies themselves have to take on at least some of the responsibility for how their customers behave while traveling.

He’s right. Although the flight staff have to be as diplomatic and professional as possible, they should at least do their best to call out overly entitled tantrums. It should not be just the other passengers’ responsibility to push back against unruly behavior.

Business Insider reports that the US Federal Aviation Administration implemented a zero-tolerance policy against unruly passengers in 2021. The goal was to try to stem out the huge number of instances of traveler misconduct.

In 2021, there were nearly 6k reports of misconduct. This number dropped to just over 1,9k reports in 2023. While the situation has improved, it is still worse than before the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the International Air Transport Association, between 2021 and 2022, there were lots more cases of unruly plane passenger behavior. There was, on average, one such incident for every 568 flights in 2022, which was higher than the average of one incident per 835 flights in 2021.

Parents ought to plan ahead if they know they’ll be traveling with their kids

Traveling with a child can be quite challenging. Probably nobody’s naive enough to think otherwise. However, if you know what the potential issues might be, it only makes sense to plan for them.

For instance, if you know that you’d like some extra room on the flight, you could buy an additional seat for your kid to sit in. Or you could upgrade the entire family to first class for even more space, privacy, and other perks.

Of course, all of these things cost additional money. Not everyone has the extra cash to spare. However, if your budget is particularly tight, in these situations, it might be best to consider cheaper methods of transport altogether.

In those cases where there’s little room to move on a plane, it’s probably best to grit your teeth for the duration of the flight, like all the other passengers. What’s not okay is trying to claim a seat that someone else paid for.

Having a child can make the journey more difficult, but they should not be used as an excuse to make someone else’s trip harder either.

Nobody wants parents and their kids to be uncomfortable. But neither should anyone else be forced to give up their seats against their will. Of course, if they’re fine with being reseated, then there’s no real issue.

Passengers tend to deal with discomfort in very different ways

We asked the author of the post about what the general reaction was like on the plane at the time of the incident with the ‘mombie.’ According to them, most passengers were passive. “The flight attendant was handling it, so while people were curious and paying attention, no one was saying anything. The older person by the window was just chilling, eyes closed, as if they were thinking, ‘This too shall pass.’ We were all pretty impressed by how well the flight attendant was handling it, I think,” Dr. Thread told Bored Panda.

“I fly a lot and have seen a lot of questionable behavior from entitled parents (and some great behavior from good parents, of course), and usually, the flight attendant is pretty busy or doesn’t want to deal with the conflict. This flight attendant stood her ground,” they praised the staff.

We were curious to get the OP’s take on why some people feel like they’re entitled to other folks’ seats. According to the redditor, public transport is becoming increasingly uncomfortable for a lot of people. “I sometimes get seated next to larger or very tall people (I’m pretty tall, myself), and I feel bad that they have to squeeze into seats that are barely wide enough for a twelve-year-old to sit comfortably. It creates a lot of tension and stress, and passengers become desperate to alleviate their discomfort,” Dr. Thread said.

“Also, rules that allow parents to pay for a single seat and bring a lap baby are both good and bad for parents—good, in that they can save some money, but they also increase the parent’s discomfort a lot. I think everyone deals with discomfort differently. Some people are more polite about it and try to help each other be less uncomfortable,” they said, adding that they never complain about larger people sitting next to them. “I put up the armrest and do my best to give them a little room. They are always extremely grateful, usually say thanks, and sometimes, buy me a drink!”

However, others get angry about being uncomfortable and feel like they should be able to take it out on their fellow passengers. This sort of behavior shows that those individuals see themselves as entitled to comfort while everyone else around them can continue to suffer.

“I think it’s important to raise people to be polite and generous to others, but I don’t think Western culture puts a lot of emphasis on these norms anymore. Everyone’s out for themselves,” Dr. Thread shared their perspective with Bored Panda.

Image credits: Pew Nguyen / Pexels (not the actual photo)

“I think the mistake people make is to not get a flight attendant involved if someone refuses to give up the seat they’ve stolen”

In the meantime, we were interested in hearing about the best strategy for dealing with entitled behavior on planes and public transport. According to Dr. Thread, if you’re the person whose seat is being taken, you should “always confront” the person.

“Most of the time, it is probably a misunderstanding—aisle numbering can be really confusing. I think the mistake people make is to not get a flight attendant involved if someone refuses to give up the seat they’ve stolen. That is part of the flight attendant’s job, and passengers have a right to the seat they bought,” they said.

The author shared one story from their past to illustrate how they personally handled a similar situation. “I once paid extra for a window seat with an aligned window—a very comfy spot to spend a four-hour flight—and a kid was sitting there, with their parent sitting in the middle seat. ‘Oh, can’t you just sit in the aisle seat?’ the parent asked when I showed them my seat assignment. ‘This is his [the kid’s] first flight, and he wants to look out the window!’ I smiled and said, ‘Sorry, I booked this seat specifically to have the window,’ and just waited, smiling, standing there.”

They continued: “The mom muttered something under her breath that sounded nasty, and they moved, but if they hadn’t, I would have 100% called the flight attendant to help. Seat selection is an option for everyone if you’re willing to pay for it and plan far enough in advance. These were premium seats, so it’s likely the parent could have afforded to select the window seat.”

Would you feel guilty about taking advantage of a multi-billion dollar corporation if it wouldn’t really harm them? This guy hadn’t.

After noticing a McDonald’s promotion offering a prime breakfast sandwich for less than one-third of the price, Reddit user Dork Kid couldn’t say no to it. So he bought it. Again and again and again.

However, people at the company eventually noticed their customer’s taste for discounted food, and they decided to do something about it. Continue scrolling to read Dork Kid’s post to learn how it all unfolded.

We got in touch with the Redditor to get more information about what happened and he was kind enough to have a little chat with us.

“To my knowledge, the terms and conditions did not explicitly limit the number of times a promotional deal could be used, but perhaps there was fine print I overlooked,” Dork Kid told Bored Panda.

His story comes just a month after the burger chain reported weaker-than-expected sales at its US stores and CEO Chris Kempczinski addressed McDonald’s “affordability” problem.

While inflation has slowed, prices for everyday necessities remain high, and people are getting frustrated. McDonald’s has become a regular target for social media users complaining about prices. Viral stories lamenting the cost of a Big Mac meal — particularly the $18 ones at a widely maligned Darien, Connecticut, location off I-95 — have become a TikTok genre unto themselves.

But even though the company is talking about losing customers, Dork Kid said he was just cast away.

“There were no warnings or notifications, which left me quite surprised by the sudden ban,” the Redditor explained.

“In situations like these, I believe a warning or a clear explanation would be the best approach from McDonald’s, giving customers a chance to understand and rectify their actions.”

In fact, he said the experience has been “quite distressing,” adding that  “the abrupt ban without prior communication has caused me unnecessary anxiety and has left me feeling unfairly treated.”

It seems like every month, I buy the same amount of things, yet there’s always less left in my bank account by the time it’s payday again. Whether it’s due to inflation or unexpected doctor’s appointments, it would be nice to figure out how to have more leftover to drop into my savings account.

If you’re also looking for ways to thicken up your wallet, you’ve come to the right place. Redditors have recently been sharing their best frugal habits, so we’ve gathered the most helpful replies below. Enjoy scrolling through, and keep reading to find conversations with Lydia Beiler of Thrifty Frugal Mom, Caitlin Self, MS, CNS, LDN of Frugal Nutrition and Melissa Vera of Adventures of Frugal Mom!

The only one that really makes a dent for me, is mostly eating at home. But the problem is, it takes a lot of time to meal prep. I try to meal prep one day a week. But when you order out, part of the surcharge is paying for convenience and saving time.

To learn more about which frugal habits will have the biggest impact on our finances nowadays, we reached out to some budget-friendly experts to hear their tips.

According to Lydia Beiler, aka Thrifty Frugal Mom, some of the habits that have saved her the most money in recent years are "making things from scratch (like homemade Bisquick Mixcaramel frappeschocolate cake and chocolate syrup); buying things like furniture, toys and baby items used; and avoiding impulse purchases."

"If you wait several days before buying something, you'll often realize you don't really need it that much," she explained, noting that she's always tried to live pretty frugally. "And especially so, since my husband and I got married nearly 18 years ago," she added.

Quitting drinking saved me an embarrassing amount of money.

Second, I now pay myself first with bills and other budget categories and transfer a set $ into my “fun” money account. I use that account for whatever but when it’s gone it’s gone. It’s the only way to trick my brain which naturally spends to the last available penny. Keeping my budget money like “vacation” funds separate in an account that takes 3-5 days to transfer from keeps impulse spending down.

It's amazing how much eating out costs. Even a $10 meal ends up being closer to $20 or even $35+ if you get it delivered. Eat. At. Home. It's amazing how much money you'll have in other parts of your life when you aren't literally eating it all.

We were also lucky enough to get in touch with Caitlin Self, MS, CNS, LDN of Frugal Nutrition to hear how she likes to live frugally. "In my experience, cooking at home is an amazing way to significantly save on your food budget each week. Ordering delivery and dining out can typically cost around $20 or more per portion of food, but you can easily make dinner at home for $5 per serving," Caitlin told Bored Panda.

"The key is to do it consistently, so you can buy more things in bulk and so you use everything you purchase - rather than letting some of it go bad. Learning to cook is one of the best things you can do for your budget, and for your overall health! I've been cooking the majority of our meals at home for over a decade, and when we have to tighten the purse strings on our own spending, my food budget is the easiest area for me to quickly modify," the nutritionist shared.

We switched from paper towels to wash cloths a couple years ago, has probably saved us thousands on paper towels cause we're so damn wasteful with them. We also have bidets, so very little paper usage in general, it's great.

Melissa Vera of Adventures of Frugal Mom also detailed some of her best money saving tips for us. "Establishing a budget and adhering to it is essential for understanding your financial flow and making informed choices about where to cut back," she shared. "Opt for meal planning and cooking at home to save money compared to frequent dining out. Avoid impulsive purchases by implementing a waiting period before buying non-essential items."

"Always compare prices and seek out deals, discounts, and coupons before making purchases. (Just because you have a coupon doesn't mean that you should have multiple items because, seriously, how many bottles of mustard does your family really need?) Utilize credit cards with cashback or rewards programs, ensuring you pay off the balance monthly to avoid interest charges," Melissa continued.

    #6

Not getting coffee for $7 a pop every day or every other day.

"Negotiate bills with service providers and inquire about available discounts or promotions," Melissa recommends. "Evaluate subscriptions regularly and cancel those that are not frequently used. Plus you can always read the magazine or borrow videos from your local library. Learn basic DIY skills for household maintenance tasks instead of hiring professionals."

"Embrace minimalism to focus spending on what truly matters while reducing unnecessary material expenses," the frugal mom added. "Prioritize saving and investing by automating contributions to savings or investment accounts for long-term growth through compounding interest. Reduce transportation costs by utilizing public transport, biking, walking, or carpooling when possible instead of relying solely on personal vehicles."

The difference is not huge, but air drying more of my clothing has been saving me a bit on my electricity bill (electric dryer). It also helps the clothes last longer.

Melissa also recommends looking for free or low-cost entertainment options, such as community events, parks, libraries, or cultural activities, rather than expensive alternatives.

And she says she did lots of secondhand shopping when her daughters were little. "I always got compliments on their clothes because they were so unique," she shared, noting that she's been using most of these frugal habits since she started staying home when her oldest daughter was 2 and a half. "She will be 29 this year," Melissa says.

Well for me it's been a long journey and I often forget how others live. But here is what I have learned...

    - Eating from my kitchen. My wife often cooks two or three main dishes at a time and the family eats from them throughout the week.
    - I get my media (videos, ebooks, music) from free internet resources.
    - I believe that by spending more on higher quality food, I spend less on healthcare expenses (MD visits, medications, etc.).
    - Make ice cream at home. It's less expensive and healthier.
    - Working from home has saved a lot in food, gas, clothing, and time.
    - Making coffee at home with a pour-over. I spend about $0.50 per 14oz of coffee.

    I'm sure there are more.

I made my own cat food. Had an old cat and for the last 2 or so years of her life I made her food myself using 2 deboned costco chickens & 1 can of pumpkin puree. For about $12 I could make a month’s worth of food for her. She LOVED it!!’ It was better for her digestion too. No more gas or loose stools. Cans of cat food are super expensive & are loaded with preservatives and fillers. My vet thought it was a great option for my cat since her digestive system was so much better on my food than anything else. Before anyone comments about garlic and onion seasons being bad for cats… she had zero problems & the vet approved.

Caitlin also noted that she sometimes has her clients audit their grocery bills to see what is costing them the most money, and then they review how essential their bigger ticket items are. "Consistently among clients, it is snack foods and convenience items that are busting their grocery budgets!" she shared. "Choosing super simple snacks like nut butter and rice cakes with banana slices, or making your own homemade snacks, like muffins, can save families $10-$25 per week."

Caitlin also recommends keeping an eye on unit prices to see how much you're paying for branding. "Name brands spend extra money on marketing and shelving costs, and they pass those fees onto the consumer by charging more per unit," she explained. "So compare the unit prices for store brand items vs. the big brands. You may save a few bucks by choosing the store brand!"

"Of course, reducing discretionary spending on non-essentials such as travel, alcohol, and fashion can make a big difference as well, depending on how you spend your money and your personal preferences," the expert added.

We eat at home and stopped eating meat and birds 9 years ago. We bake our bread in a machine several times a week. Small but super productive garden helps. We are successfully living a frugal lifestyle to the point we can afford to live in Mexico half the year. This saves us more than you'd expect because food is so much cheaper and better here. We save 1,000 a month on overpriced Canadian food which pretty much pays our rent in Mexico. A good coffee machine and bread machine keeps us out of grocery stores longer!

I live alone but for about 1 week every couple months I have a pantry/fridge clean out and I only allow myself to eat what’s on hand. It forces me to use those things that just sit on the shelf. I tend to get creative and go through a lot and I save so much money. It’s also something I do when I want to buy something outside of my budget.

I have a random one which I call “No New Money Days” (NNMD). A few days a week, I attempt to spend no additional money. I eat what I have in the fridge, I make use of existing memberships (gym etc), I use the petrol I’ve already purchased etc. Having a few a week has helped me save and helps prevent me mindlessly spend.

But not every frugal tip is worth it. According to Lydia, "trying to plan electricity use around off peak hours to get a lower rate" and selling small dollar items on Facebook Marketplace just aren't worth the time if you are busy.

But she does believe it's wise for all of us to live frugally, regardless of the state of our finances, because none of us know when our financial situation might change.

"Continuing to live at least somewhat frugally will make it easier if we need to adjust to spending less again at some point. Also, I'm a big proponent of giving generously," Lydia says. "If we aren't spending extravagantly, we have more to share with those around the world that haven't been as privileged as we have been. And often living frugally means less waste too, which is better for the planet and all of us!"

My wife and her family are very frugal we do most of the things that have been mentioned here. One more thing we do that we learned from her mother is now every year or so we phone a lot of our monthly billers and ask for discounts. Phone plan/internet/TV/ car insurance/ all other insurances along with shopping for better utility rates. It can make a huge difference.

Avoiding spending more when income grows or you happen to have more. Growing your income and keeping spending constant is by far the best way to save more.

The best frugal habit is valuing your time. Spending 2 hours doom scrolling tiktok is going to cost you more than you know. Hanging out with that friend you've outgrow for 1 hour is going to cost you more than you expected. Staying in a so-so relationship out of boredom is going to cost you.

When determining if a frugal habit is worth it, Caitlin notes that sometimes you have to weigh the savings against the time you're spending preparing meals. "If you don't have a lot of time, cooking your beans from scratch, making homemade bread, or making a homemade dessert might not be worth the effort," she explained. "I think it comes down to a cost-benefit analysis of your time, your stress levels, your energy, and your financial flexibility."

Caitlin also pointed out that you might regret choosing the cheapest option for something that you really enjoy. "For example, a $4 pastry from a coffee shop chain is going to be mediocre at best, whereas a $5 pastry from a local bakery or coffee shop that makes everything in house is likely to be excellent! So when the cost savings aren't hugely significant, but will impact your enjoyment immensely, I recommend you go for the splurge every once in a while rather than settling for something sub-par," she shared. "Something mediocre might not satisfy your craving and could leave you reaching for something else to feel more satisfied!"

Instead of buying stuff, I pick out what I WOULD buy and put the link to it in a spreadsheet. Every few months, if I have extra cash I can buy that item. It’s nice because it satisfies the impulse to shop without actually spending any money. Of course, you have to have the willpower to not buy whatever you picked out. When I first started, I straight up forgot a couple of times that I was ONLY shopping and not buying lol oops.

Transferring a portion of money to savings as soon as the paycheck hits. It's there if I need it, but I'm not as likely to spend it on a whim if I have to transfer it back to checking first. .

"I think it is important to have some kind of a 'why' associated with frugal habits," Caitlin continued. "Spending within your means is great for you and for society, and saving for retirement and possible illnesses are essential habits in the US based on our policies. But, cutting costs just for the sake of it can also be restricting pleasure and joy - and what is life without those things?"

"So if you're choosing to avoid hanging out with friends and family because of the cost of dining out or the cost of gas or travel, without actually having a good reason to save that money, well, I'm not sure if that is really worth it in the grand scheme of things," the nutritionist says. "It's important to bring balance, even to the concept of frugality!"

A little thing my wife and I do is pay for everything possible that doesn’t result in a service fee with our PayPal credit card. We pay it off every month. PayPal gives 2% cash back. It really does add up. We spend about 3k a month between both of us. $60 bucks every month. Pays for half of our car insurance every month… $700 a year.

Couponing for consumables like shampoo toothpaste laundry detergent etc. They are necessities that quickly add up!! Also things like using kitchen towels over paper towels, making sure food doesn’t go bad before you eat it, and layering or doing outside activities before turning on ac/heat!

Melissa shared that some of the frugal habits that aren't always worth it for her are developing DIY skills and taking advantage of rebate programs. "Sometimes, you get overconfident with the DIY and end up making more of a mess and costing you more money than the actual repair," she noted. "And rebates and cash back programs are awesome, but not if you justify the purchase with 'Oh, I am okay with spending this much money because I am not technically spending all of it.'"

Spending at least 1 hour a day developing new skills to move your career forward for me.

I know everyone talks about ways to save on here and they are great but being frugal with your time at least for me has proven to be the most crucial thing.

That focus allowed me to enter into a new field then specialize and allowed me to go from working 60+ hours a week to support my family to where I work 32-40 but not nearly as hard per hour of work as the old job while making drastically more money.

I've gotten to the point now where developing more knowledge in my field is very hard for me to find so I have diverted this education towards understanding real estate and other forms of investing.

Time is precious don't waste it on dumb stuff like I did for far too long. There is value in relaxing and playing video games sometimes, and watching tik Tok and scrolling reddit, but too much consumption of that stuff in my experience is not being frugal with your time and in the long run will hold you down from being as successful as you deserve to be.

I have 3: I make my own coffee at home, so no need to buy it, I eat at home and whenever I’m out and about I have my lunch pail with me. Lastly, I’m a college student and we get a free bus pass so I rely heavily on public transportation.

Those 3 things I just mentioned are such game changers. And I don’t wanna sound TOO frugal, I love the days whenever I don’t spend a single cent and at the same time I had an amazing and productive day.

Priorities are also something to consider when deciding where to cut costs. "In the earlier years of our marriage, I felt like I had more time than money. So some of the things that took more time but made us money or saved us money felt worth it," Lydia told Bored Panda. "As I've gotten busier and now run my own business, I am a lot more choosy about what money saving things I do."

"For example, sometimes, it makes more sense to pay more for something that will save me time, because it's actually more financially wise for me to use that time saved and invest it in my business," she explained. "In the end, I'll make more money that way. I think that's always something to consider when you think about saving money."

I use a cookie sheet instead of aluminum foil. Cut up old towels for paper towels. Bidet instead of toilet paper (healthier, too).

Melissa also recommends living frugally, even if you don't have to "because we will never know when the other shoe will drop, and because of that, we need to be wise with how and when we spend our earned money."

But she added that not every financial plan or frugal living plan is right for everyone. "You have to decide what is right for you and your family and learn the art of compromise. If you really want to keep one thing, then you might have to give up something else," the frugal mom shared.

Secondhand shopping (clothes, cars, household goods, furniture etc.), getting to know prices so you can spot a deal, Aldi, dollar stores, just learning not to buy stuff mindlessly - getting to a point of not needing a lot of stuff, living below your means, being a smart consumer - standing up for yourself if something goes wrong and complaining if necessary - questioning things and doing follow up, reviewing bills regularly and watching for fee creep and looking for alternatives periodically (like insurance), deferring gratification when necessary, cooking at home (if you can - it's a hard one for me but can be huge).

I enjoy canned energy drinks daily. Probably not the best for me, but buying them by the case rather than individually feels like a big win.

12 for $20 beats the hell out of $3.39 each.

Living frugally can also benefit us in more ways than one. Caitlin says, "In many cases, living in a way that is better for our budgets is also better for the environment, and better for our health!"

But we also have to be realistic about how much groceries cost nowadays. "Gone are the days when you could slash your food budget in half with a few simple tricks," the nutritionist noted. "Food costs in the USA have increased exponentially, and in order to choose nourishing meals that fill our bellies, we may have to incorporate these tricks while also increasing our food budgets to accommodate the increases in cost."

I know everything adds up, but I like going after big ticket items because it feels more successful. I drive my cars til they're dead. My last car went 20 years with very little maintenance needed, so that was approximately $350/mo for 15 years. I also make coffee at home, bring breakfast/lunch to work every day (we sometimes do an office run to a local taco place, but that's less than once a week), and I generally try to make dinner 4-5x a week (I really enjoy eating out and trying new places so I'm less frugal there, but I budget specifically for eating out and save a lot bringing coffee, breakfast, and lunch.

I got into an argument just yesterday about shutting off the lights and I actually did some math. Assuming you had 20 incandescent light bulbs each consuming 60w for 8 hours a day (I was looking worst case) you'd save something like $1.60 a month by shutting them all off and living in the dark. You could switch them all out for LEDs and save something like $1.39 a month meaning it'd cost like $0.29 to have those bulbs running 8 hours a day.

So if your bulbs are all LEDs you wouldn't really save all that much money by shutting them off. You probably still should but it probably isn't going to effect your budget all that much.

Shutting off the heat/AC has a much larger impact because it takes a lot more energy. I struggled with the why on this one but it makes sense. The higher the temperature delta the faster you lose/gain heat. So if its 100F outside and you're keeping it 70F inside you're actually losing heat to the outside faster than if you kept it 80F inside.

For us the biggest budget saver has been getting a dedicated freezer. This allows us to take advantage of sales and to have food in the house. It also helps keep me from eating out. When I consider eating out I think "I've got plenty of food at home that I spent a bunch of money on, why would I pay for more food." The other thing is if I've taken something out of the freezer to defrost in the morning I'm less likely to give in to the desire for instant gratification "I took that steak out, if I don't eat it it'll go bad."

We paid off the cost of the freezer (more than we should have but its a nice freezer) in the first year of ownership. The electricity use was not noticeable in our electric bill...

"I think we associate fast food with being really cheap, but actually, the portions seem to be shrinking and the costs seem to be increasing," Caitlin told Bored Panda. "Plus, these foods don't tend to be supportive for long-term health, so relying on them too much might actually cost you more in the long run in terms of medical and healthcare fees."

"I definitely don't mean to demonize these foods at all, but a full meal at a fast food restaurant is still likely to cost you $10, so unless it's a special treat, that's still not super budget-friendly," she explained. "If this is a meal that you really enjoy, I would treat it as just that - something you're eating because you enjoy it! But if you're only choosing it because it's cheap, you might be better off with a delicious homemade sandwich and potato chips!"

I can save easily $100/month by shopping at Walmart, AldI AND Costco rather than buying everything at one store. I keep a spreadsheet to track prices on the things we use most. That also let's me see if the local grocery stores are offering a true loss leader with sales. To me, that's worth the time and effort.

On the other hand, our water bill is $26 a month if I take a 20 minute shower every day, and $22 if I cut it down to 10 minutes. Saving $4 a month is not worth giving up 10 minutes of something I enjoy doing.

I see way more value in spending time researching the best price on something you need to buy than wandering around in the dark, cold and stinky.

(Disclaimer: I know utilities can be crazy high for other parts of the country, and of course there's the environment to consider but I will straight up FIGHT anyone who wants to turn off my bedroom fan while I'm sleeping.).

Take advantage of cashback CCs and loyalty programs. Not exactly a frugal tip, but taking a couple hours to research what cards can get you the best returns on the purchases you have to make anyway can put a decent chunk back in your pocket. I get 5% on groceries and dining, 4% gas and 3% everything else. Then a fraction to a couple percent extra with various apps and loyalty programs. Coupons deals etc. the flipp app is great for browsing multiple flyers at once for specific products.

People report huge savings with automatic thermostat adjustments. I prefer to just find a tolerable temp and leave it there. Unless I'm leaving for a week or something. We also save some money by heating the person, not the room. Fleece pajamas, slippers, electric blankets etc.

The grocery store thing depends on how you eat and your location. If Aldo is cheaper but they don't have anything you like, then it's not cheaper. There's also the opportunity cost of budgeting and shopping. But most of us don't make money in our downtime, so we could be making the effort to shop smarter. .

    For me

    1) Living in a rent controlled apartment that costs me WAY below what I can really afford. It's old(er) but is in a great area and has everything I need.

    2) Driving a used Toyota Prius. I only drive Japanese cars as I learned the hard way that buying a German POS is the fastest way to being broke.

    3) Reducing my taxes (maxing out my 401k and Roth, tax lost harvesting (if any)).

    4) Staying in shape and getting regular tests, getting my teeth cleaned, ever year.

Yes I could afford a much nicer place, a new car, and not save for retirement but why?

I'm saving $12000 on rent + $12000 on a new car payment plus insurance + thousands on taxes + quality of life and future health care costs every year

IMO, doing the above things is going to save you more money than you ever could on trivial things like watering down shampoo, eating top ramen every day, driving 15 miles to save a few bucks on gas, reusing every last material. That's cool and all, but I got more things I rather spend my time and energy on (funny enough I'm on reddit).

BTW I cook almost every meal at home. But it's more because I'm too lazy to go get food and it's much quicker and much more enjoyable cooking because I love cooking.

Also, from my experience food is the easiest way to manipulate your budget. You can easily spend several hundred a month per person, the other extreme being rice and chicken every meal. Find a place on that scale which works for you. You can put in a lot of work cooking and save a lot of money.
