Love is a tricky thing. One moment you’re feeling goosebumps, the other you’re near blackout drunk admitting you will not love anyone more than your late husband… to you current husband.

This story popped up on Reddit recently because the current husband is now debating whether divorce is the only option. It’s not, but the question had to be asked considering the issue won’t be going away any time soon and feelings were hurt.

They say love and alcohol don’t mix well together, and someone eventually draws the short straw at the end of it

Image credits:  YuriArcursPeopleimages/Envato elements (not the actual photo)

So was the case with this guy after getting properly drenched in spirits with the Mrs and her admitting to never having gotten over her late ex

Image credits: cottonbro studio/Pexels (not the actual photo)

And so the question was passed on to folks online, discussing if divorce was truly the only way

Image credits: RDNE Stock project/Pexels (not the actual photo)

The story is pretty short and straightforward: a couple of 10 years (and 3 kids) got super drunk and talked emotions for a bit until the Mrs admitted she will never love anyone more than she did her late husband from roughly 15 years ago.

Because she was blackout drunk, she doesn’t remember a thing. But that seemed to have sobered the guy up in a moment. And he can’t shake it off now. He’s considering divorce.

Folks online weren’t as quick to suggest that idea just yet, but netizens prompted for seeking out therapy first. While he has the right to feel upset, it’s not a cause to call quits after a decade together. Speaking is the way to go.

Needless to say, getting over a loss of a partner or spouse is difficult beyond belief

Image credits: cottonbro studio/Pexels (not the actual photo)

The pain that loss entails is hardly compared to any other. Some might not find the energy, or even purpose, to go through it. But there are ways to go about it that might help.

The key things to focus on in that situation is: to allow yourself to grief as long as needed and in your way; speak about it, be open with expressing your emotions and find a support group; and remember that grief is energy-intensive, and it might drain you, so treat yourself, take a break, and then celebrate the person you loved in between.

There is always a chance, however, of that person coming to idealize the partner. Death has that effect on people—even more so when it’s unexpected and abrupt. While nobody can truly replace someone, going through the same grief process discussed above will help.

It becomes a game of coping with grief and finding comfort through sharing the pain and receiving support from friends and family, accepting what has happened and accepting what is now happening.

So, what are your thoughts on any of this? Share your takes and stories in the comment section below! And if you need more drama, there’s plenty of it around these parts.

Folks were sympathetic and elaborated that the guy had every right to feel upset—therapy, however, was in their minds the better option

Even some widowers pitched their two cents in, sharing stories

Whether or not you change your name after getting married is a personal decision. Some folks love the idea of taking their spouse’s surname. Others join both last names with a handy hyphen. Still, others want to keep their old name because it’s a core part of their identity, and they’re attached to it. But what do you do if you’ve changed your last name and now you’ve gotten divorced?

Redditor u/ThrowRAHappyLiving recently went viral on the r/AITAH online group after opening up about a very delicate situation. Her ex-husband, who recently got engaged again, is now pressuring her to change her last name, years after their divorce. Read on for the story in full. Bored Panda has reached out to the author via Reddit, and we’ll update the article as soon as we hear back from her.

Even when some couples get divorced, they might decide to keep their surnames unchanged

The ex seemed to be in a rush to make his new fiancée happy no matter what

The author of the story pointed out that she’s had her (now ex) husband’s last name for the past 17 years. It would be a shock for anyone if they were suddenly forced to change their name after nearly two decades.

After so much time, it’s become a core part of your identity: you’ve probably built your social life and career around it. So, it seems unfair to suddenly demand someone make the change. It’s doubly unfair if there’s a written agreement that they can keep the last name after the divorce, like in u/ThrowRAHappyLiving’s case.

What adds even more tension to the entire conflict is that it appears like the ex-husband is putting the feelings of his fiancée over those of the mother of his three children. Divorces do not have to be messy or petty: both ex-partners can be respectful and civil toward each other.

It seems like the new fiancée is making some unreasonable demands as a way of showing that she’s in control of the situation. Though it’s understandable that someone might feel intimidated by their partner’s ex, this doesn’t make it all right to intentionally disrupt their life out of fear, anger, or jealousy.

Or, to put it bluntly, the world won’t stop spinning if there are two women with the same surname. It’s perfectly possible to have a happy, healthy, and meaningful romantic life even when your partner’s ex shares the same name.

Sure, it might be a tad awkward when the entire family gets together during the holidays at first, but it’s nothing a bit of lighthearted humor and a dash of good manners can’t help with. Having the same last name is only a problem if you let it become one.

Getting divorced doesn’t necessarily mean becoming enemies

Generally speaking, when a couple gets divorced, it’s a good idea to talk about whether or not it would be all right for the person to keep their partner’s surname if they’d changed it. It’s a respectful thing to do, and it shows a willingness to compromise, no matter the decision.

However, once the decision is made, that’s pretty much that. It’s incredibly messy to demand your ex to change their surname back after years and years have passed. It only creates unnecessary drama and is going to hurt a lot of feelings. You should stick to whatever decision you made at the time of the divorce… especially if you got it formalized in writing.

Amicable divorces are certainly possible, but they require a lot of effort from both spouses. Divorces are very emotionally charged in and of themselves. As we’ve covered on Bored Panda earlier, it’s vital for the couple to communicate without blaming each other.

Another important factor is to avoid using one’s children as ‘pawns’ in the divorce. “Remember that they need to be able to love both of you,” a representative from the UK-based relationship support provider ‘Relate’ told us during an earlier interview.

“Creating clear boundaries is another important aspect of the process. Just because you’re parting ways doesn’t mean everything has to be a battleground. Lastly, consider seeking help from a counselor or mediator. You don’t have to do it alone,” they said.

“If an ex-partner is trying to cause emotional or financial harm during or after the divorce proceedings, the ‘right’ way to respond is to protect yourself both emotionally and legally. Furthermore, establish strong support networks among friends, family, or support groups who have experienced similar situations. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help, lean on others, and accept their care.”

The author of the viral story shared some additional context in the comments

Most readers were very supportive of the woman. Here’s what they said

Being too strict with themselves and setting rigid standards isn’t good for parents. “Sometimes our demands are top-heavy because we have particular expectations about how things should be done—how well we should be doing things and how happy we should be doing them,” Natalie Dattilo, PhD, a clinical psychologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, was quoted saying.

“These unrealistic expectations increase our load, and they are some of the first things we can take off the plate,” she added.

The internet is home to many of skilled people. From woodworkers and jewelers to comics artists  and beyond, it's the platform to show off what you've been practicing and connect with audiences from all over the world.

But with so much content, we need someone to curate it. Luckily, the subreddit 'Top Talent' is on a mission to showcase the best of the best. It has 2.9 million members collecting footage of the coolest things humans can do, inspiring awe and admiration for everyone who visits them.

Continue scrolling to explore it all, including our conversation with Manhattan psychotherapist and performance coach Jonathan Alpert. You'll find it nestled in between the images.

In recent years, talks about personal accomplishments have been increasingly echoing the term growth mindset. According to the idea, it's the constant, incremental improvement that leads to success.

In other words, if you focus on perfecting the process instead of chasing results, the latter will naturally follow as a byproduct of your dedication.

So if you started working on a new project with expensive materials and little room for mistakes, it could be helpful to break down the task into smaller, manageable steps, providing yourself with opportunities to learn and improve along the way.

"All too often people when preparing for an event or performance think about all that could go wrong," psychotherapist and performance coach Jonathan Alpert told Bored Panda. "That only muddies their mindset, interfering with focus, and distracts them."

"Instead, focus on strengths — what do you bring to the event or performance? — that is the many weeks or even years of preparation, and the desire to achieve success, and expertise," the author of 'Be Fearless: Change Your Life in 28 Days' added.

Alpert, who works with many elite performers and leaders, suggests to "play it out in your mind and visualize the steps you will take on your big day."

"When you start to doubt yourself that only destabilizes your belief in yourself. Think of your belief as a table top with four legs. When you feel doubtful it is the equivalent of going over that table, grabbing a leg, and shaking it — it will make that table top (belief) less strong and less stable because you introduce negative thoughts into your mindset," he explained.

However, it's not just the preparation for and your performance that matter. You can also incorporate rituals or practices after you're done with it to improve further.

"It's not a bad idea to review your performance and try to understand what went well and what areas to work on," Alpert said.

"A performance can be diagnostic in some ways as it reveals what can be done to improve your game. Don't see any area of deficiency as a weakness, but rather as an opportunity for improvement that will make you stronger."

For centuries, people have been getting up and commuting, or retreating to a room to work. Some of the earliest evidence of humans laboring away in “offices” dates back to 16th-century paintings.

For some, this may come naturally. However, many employees struggle with motivation while confined between four walls for eight hours a day, five days a week.

Perhaps today is one of those days when you just don’t feel like working and need a brief break from being a girl boss or a hustle bro. If so, Bored Panda has you covered with some of the most relatable and chucklesome memes the Facebook group “Work Meme Of The Day” has to offer. So kick back and scroll down, because most likely that email isn’t going anywhere!

While you’re at it, make sure to check out a conversation with organizational psychologist and career counselor Dr. Sylvia Broetje and Melissa Doman, organizational psychologist and author of Yes, You Can Talk About Mental Health at Work, who kindly agreed to tell us more about lack of motivation at work.

Organizational psychologist Mellisa Doman tells us that many things can contribute to a lack of motivation at work. She says, “It can range from having high-stress levels that push you into 'bare minimum; I'm in auto-pilot mode to survive', to a lack of connection to the purpose and mission of your organization, to not enjoying your work itself, to feeling demotivated by bad leadership or not being recognized for your value."

Feeling unmotivated at work can come from so many different reasons because every situation and individual is unique.”

Meanwhile, organizational psychologist and career counselor Dr. Sylvia Broetje mentions several additional factors, one of them being unclear or unrealistic goals. A person might feel confused about where to start and which tasks to work on because the course of action is unclear or there’s too much to do, this way demotivating them.

She also indicates the lack of control and autonomy. “It's difficult to feel ownership over your tasks if you are being micro-managed, you feel like you aren't being trusted, and you can't organize how to do your own work.”

Additionally, lack of recognition can also affect motivation levels, as one may feel that their efforts or results aren’t valued. The negative work environment also contributes to this, as Broetje explains, ”It's hard to do good work if you don't feel accepted and supported by your colleagues and supervisors. As humans, we are social animals, and we need good relationships in order to do well.”

Doman emphasizes that if a person feels unmotivated at work, it’s important to find out the reasons why. Otherwise, unmanaged feelings can potentially grow and unwantedly impact other areas of work or life.

“Feeling unmotivated may seem ‘harmless', but just because something isn't in your face to the point where it shocks you to address it doesn't mean it's not doing some potential damage to your self-esteem, self-efficacy, resilience, or professional drive in the background,” she adds.

Meanwhile, Broetje believes that pushing through and keeping working when a person is lacking motivation can be beneficial in the short term. “I would even say that motivation often kicks in AFTER you start working. The important thing is to get started.”

She even kindly shares a strategy that might get you going in moments when you don’t want to. “If you find yourself procrastinating a lot, the Pomodoro technique can be really helpful. Set a timer for 25 minutes of work, followed by a 5-minute break. Most tasks are bearable when you only have to do them for 25 minutes. Repeat. What often happens is that after two or three cycles of this, you have found your stride and don't even want to take the 5-minute break anymore.”

If you’re interested in more ways to up your productivity levels, she has created the "Good Work" worksheet, which you can check out on her website

However, she agrees that it’s best to find the root of the problem when a lack of motivation overstays its welcome. “Some questions to consider are: Was the work originally motivating? What changed? Are you lacking motivation overall or only at work? What makes you excited? What could be draining your energy? The tasks? The people you work with? Overwork? Also, see the demotivators above.”

She also mentions that journaling and talking to friends, families, or trusted colleagues can be helpful in such moments, as can the support of a professional, like a career counselor, who aids in managing the current situation, identifying opportunities for change, or exploring whether the career or job is right for you.

During times when motivation levels are low, it’s important to remember that everyone struggles from time to time. Doman comforts us by saying, “It's so common and normal! If you feel that way, the last thing you need to do is be hard on yourself.”

    #24

In addition, Broetje advises acknowledging such a difficult time. “Set yourself smaller, realistic goals and reward yourself with little things when you've accomplished them, e.g., make yourself a cup of tea after two hours of good work. Take regular breaks that allow you to switch off from work. This is really critical for recovery. If you work a desk job, do something very different to recharge. For example, go for a walk, lie on the sofa and listen to music, cook, etc."

It also might be a good idea to take a look at your overall lifestyle. “Are you getting enough sleep? Eating well? Getting some exercise? This might not be the time to make major lifestyle changes but try to practice good self-care. Getting support from family, friends, or a professional can also help you navigate this time,” she concludes.

Windows are great for a lot of reasons. They allow us to take in light and, as a bonus, it warms our homes. They can be opened ever so slightly so that fresh air can enter in case your brother is gassy. Best of all, it provides us with a glimpse into what life is like outside the box of an apartment. Life we can’t help but admire.

    But then you get lucky.

There are folks who struck gold and snapped a picture of a one-of-a-kind view through their window. And then they shared it with the rest of the world. And now you’re here, so scroll on and take a second to admire the view.

#3 Sleeping Squirrels In Their Nest On Someones Window Ledge

While this incarnation doesn’t deal with a particular source of view admirers and their content, there’s definitely a handful of places to seek out dedicated views through the window.

And those places can be quite numerous. One of the original view appreciation groups on Facebook has a community of 2.1 million members. So, yeah, it’s a big deal.

    #5 Firefox On Windows

#6 This Window In A Local Library That Goes Into A Creek

But, what’s the big deal? It’s just a view, right?

    Blasphemy.

A view provides something that both the romantic as well as the pragmatic can certainly get behind. And that is… well… a view. But in one sense, it’s pleasant aesthetics and in another, it’s higher property value.

#9 This Owl That Flew Into The Window And Then Had A Staredown With My Cat

In the most general sense, having a visually appealing environment means having a visually obvious bump in property value.

Potential buyers might have sentimental or emotional ties with certain areas or natural archetypes that might just sway them into buying it without needing to actually sell it to them. As such, it can justify the increased price tag.

However, a view does not equal another view and views can differ wildly. Among them, the likes of coastal properties, hillside homes and houses overlooking bodies of water (e.g. lakes or rivers) are often in high demand. If not for the beauty, then for the peace and quiet that often comes with it. And since there aren’t that many properties with such… properties, then the price grows exponentially higher.

#15 Aurora Borealis Seen Outside Of A Plane Window

Today’s trends suggest that the most sought out properties are mostly natural landscapes, such as sea views, mountain ranges, and park or green spaces. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and to some city skylines are just as good. Just imagine, tall skyscrapers and urban aesthetics showing off the achievements of human civilization, lighting up the night sky (and creating light pollution along the way). Glorious.

#18 This Funky Little Ribbon Cloud Outside My Plane Window

So, how much in demand are views among people? The PurpleBricks estate agency suggests that 4 of 5 people (82%) would be willing to throw an extra $88,000 for a property that would include a view. So, long story short, a view is worth nearly $90K.

    But we’re not done yet.

For those who don’t see money as an obstacle, 1 in 10 of them would gladly pay upwards of $250,000 for a dream view. That’s actually enough to buy a proper home in some states.

#21 Saw An Albino Squirrel Out My Window

And there’s also a gender bias involved in it. On average, men were willing to spend around $95,100 for a property with a dream view whereas women maxed out at nearly $89,000. So, an average of $6,000 difference.

The lowest folks went with paying extra for a view roughly $6,300 (15% of potential buyers) and nearly a fifth (18%) said they wouldn’t pay anything extra for it.

Ultimately, it boils down to personal choice. While houses are more than just bricks and mortar with a view. Each sees something for themselves in it—whether it’s the tranquility of the solitude of a location, or the ability to see the waves crash in the distance. The view is a personal thing, and so there is no objective number one could place on the price tag. It’s the buyer who determines how much all of this is worth to them. But in most cases, it’s worth a lot.

We’ve all been taught that it’s possible to have too much of a good thing. But let’s just pretend for a moment that bigger is better! And that moderation is overrated! Now, I’m not encouraging you to go out and eat an entire box of doughnuts or drink enough coffee to give yourself a heart attack. But instead, brace yourself for photos of massive portions, items and animals that await you down below!

We took a trip to the Absolute Units subreddit and gathered some of their most astonishing pics. Enjoy scrolling through these photos that might make you feel miniscule in comparison, and be sure to upvote your favorite gigantic things!

As a Texan, I’m definitely familiar with the idea of things being unnecessarily large. As they say, everything’s bigger in Texas! And my partner made it very clear to me that was absolutely true during his first trip there. Wide roads, massive trucks, large houses, gigantic portions of food served at diners and more. But no matter how many times I’ve seen abnormally large things, I will never be desensitized to them. The Absolute Units subreddit still finds a way to surprise me.

This online group is dedicated to featuring the biggest versions of anything and everything. And clearly, many people do believe that bigger is better, as the group has amassed an impressive 1.7 million followers. That’s an absolute unit of a subreddit! Here, you can find anything from gigantic cars to monkeys who could probably stand to lose 40 pounds. As long as it’s big, it’s welcome here!

For some reason, many of us find it incredibly amusing to see something that’s not the size we expect it to be. The internet loves videos of people cooking in teeny tiny kitchens and extremely small versions of well, anything and everything. They’re adorable, entertaining and unexpected. But clearly, there are plenty of people who love the opposite as well: absolute units of things.

According to Clever, comically large objects actually make for great home decor as well. You can cover your floor with a huge piano rug that actually plays music when you step on it, or place a giant Rubik's cube in the corner to function as a side table. Massive heat-resistant pieces of pasta can be used on hot pot handles, and huge boxes shaped like Lego bricks can be used to store all of your children’s Lego pieces.

Some people actually turn absolute units into pieces of art. Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen worked together to create a series of sculptures that turned small, regular items into massive, eye-catching pieces of artwork. These include a massive shuttlecock, a huge sprinkler hose, a giant bow and arrow, bowling pins and a bowling ball that could easily crush a person, a saw large enough to slice through a street and more.

“We feel free to use all the approaches that come naturally to our non-monumental works: variations in scale, similes, transformations, a wide range of materials, and, of course, our use of familiar objects,” Oldenburg told My Modern Met.

Bruggen also opened up about what it was like to create these absolute units of sculptures with Oldenburg. “Working together supposes an almost complete understanding of the other, an impossibility in any case, so instead we choose a unity of opposites, a convergence of our different dynamics, of symmetry and asymmetry, of acceleration or implied speed and stillness, of a polychrome and monochrome palette, gravity and lightness — all interrelating and interchangeable elements to be used by either one of us,” she shared.

Not every absolute unit is to be enjoyed forever, though. Some bring us fleeting moments of joy, such as edible absolute units. If you’ve ever been to a restaurant that advertised a challenge to eat a huge plate of chicken fingers, a gigantic pancake, a mountain of nachos or an entire pizza in one sitting, you were likely surprised (and possibly disgusted). But it turns out that plenty of people love these absolute units of food. There are even entire blogs dedicated to finding these food challenges and conquering them.

It’s safe to say that every challenge featured on the site would be considered an absolute unit. And you can find anything from sweet challenges with waffles and milkshakes to barbecue feasts with various meats.

There are plenty of places that sell gigantic slices of pizza, croissants, cookies and more. But these are perfect for sharing with your friends and family! If you’re throwing a party, it might actually be worth it to get a pizza that’s longer than your dining room table. You’ll certainly have enough for everyone!

British actress and singer Suki Waterhouse, 32, recently stepped into an exciting new role — that of a mother. She took a moment on Thursday, April 4, to introduce her newborn baby to her fans on Instagram with a picture showing her bundle of joy in her arms.

Suki reportedly shares the infant child with none other than Hollywood heartthrob Robert Pattinson, 37, who is also Suki’s fiancé.

In the adorable snapshot that Suki posted on Instagram, the new momma was captured lovingly holding her infant, who was swaddled in a blanket adorned with hearts. However, the couple are still keeping their fans guessing, as they haven’t revealed the name or gender of the little one yet.

“Welcome to the world angel,” Suki captioned the post.

Celebrities who stumbled upon Suki’s picture while scrolling through their feed paused and took a moment to congratulate the couple as they entered parenthood.

“Congratulations love! So happy for you both!” fellow celebrity mum Paris Hilton wrote

“Now the fun really begins,” actress Alyssa Milano quipped, while singer Halsey commented, “ROCKSTAR MOM.”

Fans and celebrities showered the couple with praise after the arrival of their new bundle of joy

Actress Nina Dobrev left a slew of hearts in her comment, along with a “Congratulations” on Suki’s post.

Fans were also elated to catch a glimpse of the little one and the proud momma.

“That child hit the genetic lottery,” read a comment that has garnered more than 10,500 likes so far.

A loyal Twilight fan said, “The real baby renesmee.”

News about Suki and Robert welcoming their first child together came last month after photos of the couple pushing a beige pram with their newborn were shared by the Daily Mail.

The couple, who have kept their love life away from the limelight, were first romantically linked together in 2018.

Suki confirmed that she was pregnant while on stage in front of a cheering crowd at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City last November.

“I thought I’d wear something sparkly today to distract you from something else I’ve got going on,” she said, revealing her baby bump to the crowd.

“I’m not sure if it’s working,” she jokingly added before serving the audience with a musical performance.

Singer Lizzo penned a deeply enigmatic essay that delved into the trauma of burying one’s feelings. The cryptic message came in the shadow of her recent “I quit” declaration that sent shock waves through her fan base.

The Grammy-winner, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, appeared to give a peek behind the Lizzo persona and showed fans a glimpse of Melissa in her raw and deeply personal essay.

Lizzo wrote in the essay about a girl named Melissa who spent a lifetime policing her emotions and sticking to a set of internal rules she made for herself.

From a young age, the Melissa in Lizzo’s essay was described as the mediator of her family when fights erupted. She imposed three rules—”1. Don’t cry, 2. Stay neutral; deescalate, and 3. Don’t take anything personal. This isn’t about you”—for herself so she could maintain the role of a peacemaker during turbulent times.

“Humans tend to collect traumas like pebbles on a long hike. We toss them into our backpacks and keep moving forward. Some hikers would falter, but Melissa was built for this. She’d carried the stones of her family’s traumas uphill for years. She was strong,” Lizzo wrote in the essay.

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, wrote an essay about a child named Melissa who taught herself to bury her feelings and grew up with the trauma of it

“When men began to befriend and reject her, saying ‘you’re too good for me’ but not too good to make them feel good. She carried that,” she went on to say. “When childhood friends began to cut off the strings of her heart, saying ‘We can’t be friends anymore’. She carried that. When her family separated like dandelion seeds, it seemed like they’d never be together again. Melissa slept on so many couches, floors and car seats sometimes she didn’t know if she’d see them again. She carried that.”

For the longest time, Melissa didn’t break the self-imposed three rules, but deep down, she “wanted to break them boldly and loudly and annoyingly and honestly and sloppily like every one else gets to do,” Lizzo wrote.

Lizzo wrote in the essay that Melissa eventually learned how to break the rules and cry, escalate, and take things personally

“It was in that moment, tucked in a thin jacket inside of an 8-foot high instrument cubby in the inky darkness—it hit her,” she went on to say. “‘Is my suffering for a high purpose? Or is my suffering trying to kill me?’”

    “She cried.

    “She escalated.

    “She took it personal.

“But it wasn’t enough. She wanted to scream in a microphone in a sea of shadowy faces. She drank whiskey and wove her pain into rock music,” Lizzo wrote.

The singer went on to write about how Melissa began to “fall for her feelings”

As the “pebble-laden hike became lighter with time,” Melissa eventually decided that rules were meant to be “built and broken,” the About Damn Time singer said.

She then went on to list out how Melissa broke the rules that she had made for herself.

“So… She broke rule number 1 on stage while singing a beautiful song…,” read the essay. “Rule number 2 was broken when she grew older and saw the injustices of the world. Marching with hundreds in protest she realized not everything needs to be pacified. And one day when she finally fell in love, she broke rule number 3. No matter how much training she’d done she couldn’t help but take every thing her lover said and did personal. But it was ok. Because in all her resistance she realized breaking rules was her power.”

“Melissa began to fall for her feelings. Her feelings gave life purpose. They weren’t always logical, as feelings seldom are. They were sloppy and embarrassing and rude and so fucking uncomfortable. But they were hers. And they were real,” Lizzo added.

Lizzo’s essay comes days after she posted a video clarifying what she meant by her “I Quit” declaration

The essay came days after Lizzo clarified that she was not going to quit making music, which she described as “the joy of [her] life.” When she made the “I Quit” statement, Lizzo said she meant she was going to stop “giving any negative energy attention.”

After posting the recent essay on Tumblr, fans had mixed reactions, with many supporting her for putting pen to paper and exposing her feelings, while others were critical and accused her of trying to gain attention.

Some fans cheered the singer on and said, “Writing is extremely healing”

A Mississippi mother decided to turn her two teenage sons in to the police after learning they were being searched for after firing shots at an officer.

A Holly Springs police officer said on Tuesday (April 2) that he attempted to pull over a red Kia Forte driving erratically with no headlights on Interstate 22 towards Memphis.

According to the police, at least two shots were fired from the suspects’ vehicle after a brief pursuit.

“It was dangerous for the officers and any other pedestrians and anyone that was on that interstate at the time. That was a very dangerous situation,” Holly Springs Police Chief Darryl Bowens said.

A Marshall County sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle where the suspects ran into the woods, WMC reports.

Following the incident, officers put in an alert with photos of the two men, aged 17 and 18, hoping someone would recognize them.

The person who knew them the most eventually did. It took less than 24 hours for the mother to turn her teenage sons in to the police after seeing them on the news.

“I was like, ‘Are you serious? Oh, hell no.’ I got up, and I asked questions,” the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.

“I don’t play no games with them. If you want to do the crime, you gotta do the time,” she said

According to Holly Springs Police, the suspects, aged 17 and 18, fired at a police offer during a traffic stop

She added: “I don’t play no games with them. If you want to do the crime, you gotta do the time— Plain and simple.”

She also described seeing her children associated with a crime as “very shocking.”

“My child does not get in trouble. He don’t bother nobody. They don’t do nothing. All they do is play games. This is very new. This is very shocking.”

The mother learned about the crime after seeing her sons’ photos on the news

Her sons reportedly insisted that they were innocent.

Both of them have been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer. Their names were not released by the Holly Springs Police Department.

Furthermore, an additional person of interest in the case has reportedly been questioned but not charged.

People congratulated the mother for her integrity

Thieves broke into the vault of a money storage facility in the San Fernando Valley, stealing around $30 million in one of the largest cash heists in the history of Los Angeles.

The crime reportedly took place on the night of Easter Sunday (March 31) when the burglars entered the GardaWorld money storage facility in Sylmar, LAPD revealed on Wednesday (April 3).

GardaWorld is “one of the largest privately owned integrated security and risk” companies internationally, and it partners with private companies, governments, humanitarian organizations, and multinationals, according to the company’s website.

The burglars were able to breach the building and the safe where the money was stored, according to L.A. Police Department Cmdr. Elaine Morales.

Nobody noticed the money was gone until the following day when employees opened the vault.

The LAPD is currently working with the FBI on the case.

“It’s just mind-blowing that you would never suspect it,” he said. “$30 million in the Valley, gone. How? Why? I’m still trying to process it,” an employee who works at GardaWorld told ABC7.

“Was it an inside job? Was it just one person? Was it a group? You know, there’s a lot of questions.”

The burglars are thought to have broken through the roof of the facility, but a law enforcement source revealed that there was also an effort to breach the side of the building.

It remains unclear how they gained access to the vault without triggering the alarm system.

The theft is one of the largest cash heists in the history of Los Angeles

A video shared by ABC shows a large cut on the side of the facility covered by a piece of plywood with rubble around it. It hasn’t been confirmed whether this was related to the break-in.

Scott Andrew Selby, co-author of “Flawless: Inside the Largest Diamond Heist in History,” told the L.A. Times that the crime has “all the markings of a really well-thought-out job” that was done by a “professional crew.”

Despite this, he believes the thieves might not ultimately get away with the sophisticated heist.

“As technology progresses and the world gets small, there are a lot of ways you can mess up and get caught,” Selby said.

“With touch DNA, the slightest mistake can expose the identity of a member of the crew, leading authorities to eventually identify their associates.”

Aerial footage shows a cut on the side of the facility, though it remains unclear how it was connected to the crime

Image credits: FOX 11 Los Angeles

Another mysterious aspect of the theft is that very few people reportedly knew that there were large sums of cash in that safe, according to law enforcement sources.

Anyone with information about the crime is being asked to contact the FBI at 1 800 CALL-FBI (225-5324) or online at tips.fbi.gov.

Bored Panda has contacted the Los Angeles Police Department for comment.

The burglars managed to avoid the facility’s alarm system

The previous biggest cash robbery in Los Angeles was the Dunbar Armored robbery in September 1997, in which six men stole $18.9 million from the former site of the Dunbar Armored building—a similar facility to GardaWorld— on Mateo Street.

The GardaWorld crime comes two years after thieves stole $100 million in jewels and valuables from a Brink’s big rig at a Southern California truck stop.

On that occasion, burglars used a 27-minute time window where one driver slept in the vehicle’s sleeper berth while another ate a meal at a truck stop. The criminal or criminals still haven’t been caught.

Multiple people believe the crime was an “inside job” carried out by someone familiar with the building

Bianca Censori, the latest Mrs. West, has certainly not shied away from the spotlight since tying the knot with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.

Her recent choice of outfit to dine out with her 46-year-old husband was essentially just her underwear—a busty black bra and flesh-colored lace tights. Some fans were underwhelmed at the fashion choice and said the 29-year-old Australian architect and model is running out of creative fuel for her outfits.

Ye and Bianca stepped out for dinner together at Gigi’s in Los Angeles on April 3, and for their date night, Bianca’s ensemble was daringly scant on fabric. The outfit marked yet another instance in Bianca’s growing catalog of risqué public appearances.

It seemed as though Bianca chose to forgo wearing underwear beneath her lace tights. But she strategically placed a black purse to cover her privates while walking down the streets of LA.

Meanwhile, Ye hid behind black sunglasses, even though it was nighttime, and he strolled by his wife’s side in his all-black outfit. The rapper had his hood up as well.

Instead of gasps of awe or shock, social media users collectively shrugged, as they are growing tired of seeing Bianca’s repetitive and unimaginative attempts at gaining attention.

“Everything Bianca Censori wears is ugly. Like, be so for real. Put an actual outfit on, please,” one critic wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Every time I see a video of Kanye and Bianca Censori out and about I get major Sims waiting for directions vibes from her.”

“If she looked confident, it’d be a different story, but maybe this is just a shot of her looking meek, timid, and uncomfortable,” a second comment said, while a third added, “She always looks so scared and uncomfortable idk maybe it’s just me.”

Bianca’s recent string of barely-anything outfits sparked speculation among fans about whether she’s in a controlling relationship, where Ye is parading her around in outfits of his choosing.

Recent reports cited sources and claimed Bianca is starting to feel used by her husband ahead of the release of his ‘Vultures 2’ album.

“She needs a break and needs to step back,” a source told the Daily Mail. “She loved the attention but it is getting overwhelming and Kanye keeps pushing and pushing for more, more, more leading up to the release of Vultures 2.”

The source claimed that Bianca feels like Ye is using her as a “marketing tool” to get as many eyeballs as possible and remain in the limelight. Moreover, the source noted that Bianca is interested in starting a family and having children after her husband’s album is out.

“She feels like he is using her as a free marketing tool – as does everyone else,” the source told the outlet. “These past couple of months have been an experience, but she really wants to focus on having children after the album drops. She knows she is overexposed.”

Fans appear to be growing tired of Bianca Censori’s repetitive underwear outings and pointed out that she always looks “scared and uncomfortable”

Recent reports further claimed that Bianca’s family had an issue with her recent outfits. However, her sister, Angelina Censori, dispelled the rumors and said her family supports Ye.

“We all support him. We support his new album. We support his new clothes he’s dropping,” Angelina was quoted telling the Herald Sun last month.

Angelina also said that claims about their father wanting to have a sit-down with Ye about his marriage with his daughter are “all just bulls—t.”

“My dad never talks,” she added. “Nothing’s true.”

Ye and Bianca’s Wednesday date night comes amid the news of a new lawsuit that the rapper is at the center of.

The music mogul was accused by a former employee of harassing his employees at Donda Academy, a school that Ye founded and named after his mother.

The employee, Trevor Phillips, also accused Ye of wanting to put kids in cages in the now-shuttered school.

“In front of the schoolchildren, Kanye continued his dangerous rhetoric. Kanye started to openly discuss how he only likes to date White women,” the lawsuit stated. “Then addressing the two school children, Kanye told them that he wanted them to shave their heads and that he intended to put a jail at the school — and that they could be locked in cages. The staff quickly distracted the children, and escorted them out of the room.”

Trevor, a Black man, further accused the rapper of treating his Black employees “palpably worse than white employees.”

The ex-employee claimed that Ye, on one occasion, ordered a Black campus security guard to have his dreads shaved off if he wanted to keep his job.

Trevor said in legal documents that Ye would openly make antisemitic comments and derogatory remarks against the LGBTQIA+ community.

“… He could not resist indulging in his favorite topic: ‘The Jews are GREEDY and they keep trying to take MY MONEY,'” read the lawsuit. “In addition to other repeated attacks on Jewish people, Kanye then began threatening the LGBTQ community. ‘Yeah I am going for the Gays! FIRST the Jews, THEN the Gays.'”

“Gay people are not true Christians,” the rapper was quoted saying in legal documents. “And Gay people are controlled by Bill Gates so that they don’t have children for population control.”

Ye and artist Ty Dolla $ign were meant to hold “listening” parties for the Vultures 1 & 2 albums this month in arenas in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Pittsburgh, Nashville, Charlotte, and Washington, D.C. However, just a day or two after the announcement was made, reports said the large-scale listening sessions were canceled, according to Variety.

“We regret to report that due to the time constraints for Ye and Ty Dolla $ign to curate production and meet logistic requirements, the upcoming dates for the VULTURES 1&2 listening experience will need to be revisited at a later date,” said a post from Amalie Arena last week.

Her outfits no longer make fans gasp in awe or shock. Social media users are now yawning at her outfits instead

Nowadays, it seems like advertisements are unavoidable. If you want to watch a video online, you’ll have to suffer through two commercials before it even starts, as well as several sprinkled throughout the video that will go on for 5 minutes unless you click “skip.” We see them on social media, on billboards and sometimes even plastered all over cars.

In this world of incessant advertising, it’s hard to find an ad that truly stands out. But one subreddit is dedicated to finding the most brilliant pieces of marketing and sharing them online. Below, you’ll find some incredibly clever ads that have been spotted all around the world, so enjoy scrolling through and be sure to upvote the designs that you find particularly effective!

Advertising is not the easiest field to work in. Most people are often annoyed by ads and do everything in their power to avoid them. Whether that means installing an ad-blocker on their internet browser or paying a little extra to avoid commercials when watching shows online, it’s worth it to keep those annoying advertisements from infiltrating your peace.

Every now and then, however, we encounter marketing that’s so brilliant, we don’t even mind the fact that it’s advertising a product. After all, we all need to buy things, so we might as well support companies that we think advertise well! That’s why this subreddit dedicated to sharing amazing ads exists. This community has over 461k members, and it’s the perfect place to go if you spot an incredible ad that you’ve just got to share!

As with anything else in life, what makes for a great ad is subjective and can depend on many factors. But according to strategic growth advisor James Cole, step one is understanding your target audience. Marketing to Gen Z is going to be very different from creating an ad that targets boomers. So it’s important to understand how your audience speaks, where they like to get their information and what appeals to them.

Step two is knowing your competition. Find out exactly how they’re advertising and whether it’s working for them or not. You can learn from their successes or their failures and work to create an ad that’s even better. You want to stand out, while still managing to grab the attention of the same audience.

When advertising, James Cole says it’s also key to know all the ins and outs of the product or service you’re providing. Understanding all of the key features and benefits is crucial, so you can highlight them in any ads. And you’ll need clearly defined objectives as well. Whether you want to reach a more international audience, a younger audience, etc., you need to tailor your advertising specifically to that goal. But always remember to be honest. False advertising is a quick way to create a terrible ad, and sometimes even a lawsuit, so it’s important to avoid the temptation to bend the truth.

While some advertisers might be brilliant at what they do, it’s important for anyone marketing to test, test and test again, James Cole says. Test your ads on small audiences and get feedback about what they liked and didn’t like. Make some changes and keep repeating the process until you’re happy with what you hear. Launching an ad that will be seen by the entire country, or perhaps all around the world, can be very costly, so it’s important to make sure you have the perfect ad ready to go when you finally share it with the world.

Forbes also has their own recipe for creating the perfect advertisement. After it’s been confirmed that you know your audience, they recommend creating a captivating headline. This might include making a promise, including statistics about your brand and making a personal pitch to your target audience. It can also be wise to assure your potential customer base that you can solve a problem they have. Don’t just boast about how great your product is, but explain what exactly it can do for them.

Including a call to action can also be helpful in advertising. Let your audience know exactly what they need to do to get their hands on your product. Should they call to make an appointment, hop online to place an order or go to their local grocery store to pick it up? Forbes explains that by providing customers with options for purchase, it makes it easier for their minds to jump from seeing an ad to actually making a purchase, without requiring much thought in between.

The goal when creating an ad is to make something that will be memorable for years, or even decades, to come. Wyzowl has compiled a list of some of the best commercials of all time, and it’s likely you remember many of them. First, they mention the Dumb Ways to Die Australian Metro ad, which featured lots of creatures being sliced and killed in various ways to encourage travelers to make smart decisions when using public transit. As people age, they begin to lose the ability to do the same things they could when they were younger, and basic tasks like cooking and cleaning suddenly become much harder. Unfortunately, many elders might not even be aware that they’re falling behind with their daily needs and remain adamant about living alone.

For this senior mother-in-law, it got to a point where her daughter-in-law got food poisoning just from eating at her house. Concerned for her child’s safety, the DIL forbade her to feed the grandkid at all. However, neither MIL nor her husband abided by her decision.

Scroll down to find the full story and a conversation with consultant and care manager for those aging in place, Rebecca West, who kindly agreed to tell us more about difficulties in old age.

There are many reasons why the elderly stop taking care of themselves

Image credits: Danie Franco / unsplash (not the actual photo)

The state of the senior woman’s home that the author of the story is painting can be described as elder self-neglect. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services refers to this term as “behavior of an elderly person that threatens his/her own health or safety and generally manifests itself by failure to provide himself/herself with adequate food, water, clothing, shelter, personal hygiene, medication (when indicated), and safety precautions.”

Bored Panda reached out to consultant and care manager for those aging in place, Rebecca West, who says that additional signs to look out for include a depressed mood or erratic changes in behavior. For instance, they may forget or miss appointments, change their sleep schedule, forget to follow up with people, or constantly lose important items like keys or glasses. “Altered mental status in a loved one should be addressed right away,” she stresses.

West adds, “Physical signs may include appearing unwashed, smelly clothes, dirty hair, and unkempt fingernails. Wearing the same clothes over and over again is a good indication that more help is needed, either because they aren’t physically able to change their clothes themselves or aren’t remembering to wash and change their clothes regularly. ”

There are many reasons why the elderly stop taking care of themselves, including dementia, depression, disease, poverty, and isolation. According to West, in many cases, the person might refuse to seek help because they feel ashamed. She also notes, “With the elderly population, there can also be a big fear of losing their independence if they admit they are struggling.”

Another contributing factor is that they simply don’t know where to turn or who to reach out to. “It can feel very overwhelming to understand where to start and who to trust. That’s part of the reason I started The Invisible Crowd, as there are often so many resources at a person’s fingertips that they just don’t know where to look. Lastly, if dementia is playing a role in a person’s behavior, they may not be able to comprehend that they are in need of assistance.”

Sometimes such behavior even affects and endangers the general public when they increase the risk of a house fire or their environment breeds diseases. However, if the senior is deemed clinically capable of making their own decisions, they have the right to refuse help, and protective services providers have to respect their choice.

What’s even more concerning is that self-neglect is not only damaging to one’s health but can also be life-threatening. A study in 2009 that analyzed over 10,000 seniors discovered that a lack of self-care was associated with a significant increase in premature death. Additional research found that such behavior increases the risk of elder abuse.

Usually, the tendencies of self-neglect progress, therefore, it’s important to keep an eye on the elderly

Image credits: Rostyslav Savchyn / unsplash (not the actual photo)

It can be hard to know how or when to intervene when your loved one is experiencing self-neglect. West advises, “I’d say the sooner the better, just by offering something small like shoveling their driveway when it snows or bringing over some baked goods.

Building that bridge of communication and trust will most likely give you more information. When you bring over some muffins and look inside their home, is it a mess? Are the ceiling tiles falling down? Or is it clean and orderly?”

Usually, illnesses and conditions like dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or depression progress, leading to a gradual loss of ability or interest in self-care. Therefore, it’s important to keep an eye on them, even if a self-neglecting senior doesn’t officially require outside care.

She mentions that if it’s someone you don’t know personally or don’t feel comfortable interacting with, reaching out to local community paramedics, fire stations, or public health officials is a great place to start. “You can Google your local branches’ phone numbers and explain your concerns to them. Never put yourself in a dangerous situation, if you’re unsure how someone might react, bring in a professional to investigate their circumstances further,” she adds.

The seniors themselves can try to prevent self-neglect as they age by staying in touch with their close circle, becoming involved in community activities, getting to know their neighbors, and scheduling regular medical appointments.

People assured the author in the comments that she’s not overreacting

While nobody would argue against the need to promote computer literacy in order to avoid scammers, it’s equally important to also promote and empower people to fight back against them. You know, in the form of heckling them back in the same way they tried to do with you whilst saying they’re Tim from Microsoft support. Or something.

Take note from this Redditor who narrowly avoided a scam, but instead of shrugging it off, they took it a step further and proceeded to call the scammer operations multiple times across several days. Like a boss.

Most might think scammers are nigh untouchable. Nope, all you need is a little bit of ingenuity to get back at them

Image credits: May Gauthier (not the actual photo)

Take notes from this guy who, after nearly getting scammed, proceeded to call the scammers back and waste their time

Image credits: Cup of Couple (not the actual photo)

While the author of the post did feel like it was a small victory, it was a victory nonetheless

Redditor u/Starbucks__Lovers nearly fell victim to a $450 (maybe even more) scam. We get it, the guy’s tired and out of it. Happens to the best of us. But instead of leaving it at that, he decided he can afford to wreak some havoc.

So, he set up some Google Voice accounts and proceeded to call the scammers back. Many, many times. So much, in fact, that folks there started recognizing him after several calls. It took a while for the scammers to pick up on the idea of blocking him, but better later than earlier in this case.

Heck, the guy even borrowed a phone to make some calls just to get under the scammers’ skin even more. This went on for several days until most of the resources were essentially used up. While it was a small and petty victory, it was a victory nonetheless.

And folks online approved. It was only appropriate for folks to point out that there are coordinated campaigns against scammers on Reddit and other platforms, so this is definitely not out of the ordinary. Besides that, some Redditors admitted to doing the same, with one explaining how they often manage to link two of the scammers together and then he listens to the chaos.

There are less proactive ways of dealing with scammers, but a tad bit of chaos within legal limits wouldn’t be frowned upon either

The State Government of Tennessee issued guidelines for how to handle a scammer attack. First and foremost, as soon as you understand that you’ve been contacted by a scammer, but before they’ve breached anything, simply hang up, stop your correspondence, whatever. Just stop.

If you believe that the scammers got at least a whiff of your bank information, contact your bank and make sure your accounts are safe. And, immediately after that, check your computer for malware, change your passwords, and report the scam. Depending on the nature of the scam, you might want to talk to local law enforcement, the Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Affairs, Identity Theft or the Better Business Bureau.

However, there are people who take a more creative or even hands-on approach to dealing with scammers. Internet personalities like Jim Browning and IRLRosie tackle scammers on a daily basis. At the very least, they waste as much scammer time as possible so that they can’t target other folks. And if pursued, then entire operations get shut down.

So, what are your thoughts on any of this? Share your takes and stories in the comment section below! And if you need more scams in your life, have at it.

Folks approved of the anti-scam measures, sharing their stories and even pointing out some initiatives that do the same

A big part of teaching kids to socialize is for them to learn how to share. Whether it’s toys or food, kids need to know they can’t always have everything for themselves. Sharing is caring, after all, right? But what about sharing things that they’ve won fair and square? Should they learn to give those up as well?

One mom shared her dilemma about whether she was right not to make her son share his raffle toy prize. She claims other parents started pressuring her and the boy to give the prize to another boy who didn’t win anything. The mother initially refused, but after her husband started wondering whether they should’ve encouraged the boy to give his prize away, she started doubting her decision as well. So she decided to ask the Internet’s opinion.

Bored Panda reached out to parenting coach Megan Thompson. She was kind enough to weigh in on the situation, telling us whether the mom’s decision was the right one. Read our interview with her below!

Kids love raffles, parties, and any other event where they can get free toys

Yet, when one kid won two prizes, his mom felt pressured to make him give one of the toys to another child

Image credits: peakpx (not the actual photo)

Parenting coach Megan Thompson says she would’ve let the child decide for himself as well

The situation the OP describes in her post isn’t anything unheard of. We all know kids don’t particularly like to share their stuff. Parenting coach Megan Thompson tells Bored Panda that they’re similar to adults in that regard. “Most adults are not great at sharing either. We just get better at appearing we do,” she says.

“If someone gifted an adult two brand new cars, do you think their immediate reaction would be to look at their neighbor’s old car and think, ‘I really think they could use the other car more than my family,’ and give it to them straight away?” Probably not.

“That’s what it would feel like for a child to be given two new toys and be told to give the other one away.” She says that whether this could’ve been a teaching moment really depends on the child’s age. As the mother mentioned her kids are both old enough not to throw tantrums when they don’t get a prize, it seems they might be old enough to make a decision themselves.

“I would make it the child’s choice to share the other toy,” she somewhat agrees with the OP’s decision. “I’d first have a chat with my child and let them think about it. Let them try on how it feels. Don’t let other parents pressure you – it’s an opportunity to learn and grow,” Thompson notes.

She says that this is perhaps a bigger learning experience for the child who didn’t get the toy car. She has some advice for the parents of the other kid: “If the other child doesn’t share with them, coach them through how that feels. Don’t fix it or promise to make it up to them. Your child may be more generous to others the next time they are given an abundance.”

She argues that the kid who didn’t win anything actually got the better end of the stick in the long term. “Your kid is going to grow and learn from disappointment in this situation – in fact, I’d argue [that] while they may have lost the prize, they really won. Kids have to flex their disappointment like a muscle and build resilience. It’s one of the greatest gifts we can give them. We can empathize and coach them through it,” Thompson explains.

Parental peer pressure might be hard to deal with, but parents should stick to their guns

Image credits: Brett Sayles / Pexels (not the actual photo)

In the situation that the mother describes, it seems that the main problem here stems from the opinions of other adults. The mother felt quite firm in her decision to let her son choose whether to give up the toy car until other parents and her husband prompted her to doubt it.

VeryWell Family writes that parents should be confident in themselves and their decisions: “Count all the things you are doing right as a parent and trust yourself.” When other parents are giving advice, more often than not, they’re coming from a good place. The best reaction is to politely let them know you’ve already made up your mind.

Of course, it’s healthy to consider suggestions from others. When choosing to stick to your guns, think about:

    • Do you think your parenting decision is what’s best for your child?
    • Do you have any scientific evidence supporting your decision?
    • Might what you’re doing be harmful or dangerous to your child?

After considering these questions, make a decision that suits your values and parenting strategy. After all, when children see their parents not sway from peer pressure, it sets an example in their minds. They should be able to handle pressure from their peers better if they see their parents being firm with their beliefs.

The majority of people agreed that the kid should keep what he won fair and square

But some thought the mother should’ve intervened

It’s no surprise that people tend to get quite invested when watching a movie. Even though deep down they understand that the stories and the people portrayed on the screen are fictitious, sometimes the acting is just so good, they forget all about it.

However, there are times when something feels off; when the story is not believable, the setting is somehow wrong, or there is simply no chemistry between the actors whatsoever. The latter is what members of the ‘Pop Culture Chat’ community recently discussed when the user ‘Joanna_Valdes’ asked them about the romantic leads in movies that had zero chemistry. People covered all sorts of pairings in their answers, so scroll down to find them on the list below, and see if you have sat through at least one of the listed movies.

    #1

Anne Hathaway and Adrian Grenier as Andy and Nate in The Devil Wears Prada Yessss all of their interactions in this movie are like you'd speak to an annoying brother or house-mate

    #2

Dan Radcliffe and Bonnie Wright together were so awkward, and it didn’t help that the screenwriters gave them such weird interactions (the “open up, you” and the shoelace-tying scenes give me so much secondhand embarrassment).

    #3

Thor had more chemistry with Capt Marvel in their few seconds of interaction than this.

    #4

I mean, the answer here has to be Cara Delevigne and Dane Dehaan in “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”, right?

I legitimately thought they were related. For about 30-40 minutes before realizing that wasn’t the case and then becoming aggressively bored by it and shutting it off.

    #5

I thought Henry Cavill and Amy Adams were devoid of chemistry in Man of Steel - they seemed so awkward together.

    #6

Ok, hear me out - Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. Audrey obviously respects Fred and sees him as a mentor and that comes through in the film and Fred obviously sees Audrey as a sweet young girl but that’s the problem - they were badly matched as he was too old for her and looked too old for her and they had no romantic chemistry whatsoever. I actually really dislike this film because I do not believe whatsoever that they love each other.

    #7

Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in Jupiter Ascending. I unapologetically love that movie but their chemistry is just soooo bad.

    *I love dogs!!*.

    #8

Jamie Dornan felt like the material was beneath him, he was practically fully clothed in his love scenes with Dakota while she fully nude, the sex scenes were completely vanilla and mechanical, and the author kept interfering with the production. There was no way they were going to have a good production.

    #9

Emily VanCamp and Chris Evans as Sharon and Steve in Captain America: Civil War. Sibling vibes

    #10

I’m surprised nobody mentioned Emma Watson and Dan Stevens yet. Has the live-action Beauty and the Beast faded from public consciousness that quickly?

    #11

I love love love the Fast saga but you can never convince me that Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel want to have sex with each other. Ever.

    #12

Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in The Tourist. Johnny was completely miscast which ruined the movie for me.

    #13

The new Mr and Mrs Smith. I was trying to explain to my husband why I didn’t like it and I realized it was the pairing. They’re both good actors, but I think they aren’t good actors together. But I mean, the chemistry obviously was out of control in the original. I’m sure it’s hard to find that again.

    #14

Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt in The Mexican.

    Absolutely painful to watch.

I guess they are friends in real life and thought it would be fun to do a movie together...this means there was probably no chemistry read, which explains EVERYTHING.

    #15

The Happening. These two are supposed to be married. (Except she had Tiramisu with some other clown).

    #16

Not a movie but in grey’s anatomy izzy and george having a moment for a few episodes was so hard to watch, there was zero chemistry between the two characters. like why did they write that in? it seemed so unnecessary.

    #17

The answer is obviously Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson in Marry Me.

    #18

These 2 always gave me siblings vibe in every scene. He has better chemistry with Danai

    #19

Audrey Hepburn and any male lead who was at least 10-20+ years her senior. She was born 1929. Humphrey Bogart (1899) Fred Astaire(1899) William Holden (1918) Gary Cooper (1901) and on and on. As charming and brilliant as she is an actor, the story was completely unbelievable and you're just left with such an ick about it. I know people LOVE these movies and they were really well received, but they are just so unwatchable to me !

    #20

From Justin to Kelly. Like you could not convince me that either Kelly or Justin wanted to be in this movie together, but they were contactually obligated to do so. Also the rumours that Justin was hooking up with Paula Abdul did not help him be a convincing romantic lead with that extra context.

    #21

Jack Black and Kate Winslet in The Holiday even thought their arc is definitively better than Jude and Cameron’s. Great acting, just a lack of sexual chemistry. .

    #22

Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon in Your Place or Mine.

    #23

Matthew McConaughey & Jodie Foster in Contact ('97) is an all timer. Great movie but possibly the most awkward makeout in film history.

They have amazing friendship/ sibling-type chemistry IMO, but every movie Cary Grant & Katharine Hepburn starred in together as lovers just made me go huh...? Who approved that!

    #24

Matt Damon and Hong Chau in Downsizing.

    #25

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie or series where Emma Roberts has chemistry with her male co-star.

    #26

Hugh Grant/Andie McDowell in Four Weddings and a funeral.

    #27

Showing my age but Denise Richards and Pierce Brosnan had absolutely no spark.

    #28

Lindsay Lohan and Chord Overstreet in 'Falling for Christmas'.

    #29

Ana de Armas and Chris Evans have so much chemistry in "Knives Out", so Idk why it didn't work out in "Ghosted".

    #30

I raise you Mark Ruffalo and Melanie Laurent in Now You See Me. When they threw out the romantic twist at the end I was like....didn't see that coming, and not in a good way. Not a major plot point but a completely unnecessary and not believable side plot.

    #31

josh hartnett and shannyn sossamon in *40 Days and 40 Nights.* i maintain this is one of the worst romcoms i have ever seen and the lack of chemistry between the two leads is the least concerning thing about the film. literally this movie is just about a guy being SA'd by everyone and then having to ask for forgiveness for it. the 2000s were mind boggling.

    #32

    DEAR. EVAN. HANSEN. ???

    #33

Renee Rapp and Chris Briney-Mean Girls 2024.

This is more Chris’ fault then Renee. I couldn’t buy him as Aaron Samuels and his acting skills aren’t the best when you pair him next to a broadway actress and a pro singer.

    #34

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell in Anything But You.

    #35

I watched a movie with Alexa Vega(Spy kids) and Carlos Pena( Big Time Rush), and they had NO onscreen chemistry at all, which is hilarious because they are MARRIED. It was so bad.

    #36

It’s me, popping in for my regularly scheduled Liam Hemsworth slander. This weak a*s kiss, knowing it’s probably one of the only ones you’ll get?! Honorable mention for Daniel Craig and Lea Seydoux in the last Bond movies. Just…no.

    #37

The two leads in the recent West Side Story had absolutely zero chemistry. Minus chemistry, possibly.

    #38

Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas in Bladerunner

Ana has no chemistry with any of her Co casts.

    #39

Ashton and Reese was SO bad.

    #40

Amber and Richard A Christmas Prince Trilogy.

    #41

Ana de Armas and Marilyn Monroe in Blonde.

    #42

I love them as characters and I love the movies, but I just can’t buy them as a couple I’m sorry. They have the rain kiss but that’s about it.

On a ChatGPT, on a Dall-E.

The dog and “beloved family member” of Law & Order actress Angie Harmon was killed on Easter weekend by a delivery man using a gun. The pet assassin has since claimed self-defense but has been called out by the actress for alleged lies.

On Monday (April 1), the 51-year-old actress took to her Instagram page to announce that Oliver, her darling mutt, was shot to death by an InstaCart worker at her family home in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

Alongside various heartbreakingly adorable pictures of the poor dog, Angie wrote: “This Easter weekend a man delivering groceries for Instacart shot & killed our precious Oliver.”

InstaCart is an American delivery company based in San Francisco that operates a grocery delivery and pick-up service in the US and Canada, and it is accessible via a website and mobile app.

The actress continued: “He got out of his car, delivered the food & THEN shot our dog.

“Our ring camera was charging in the house, which he saw & then knew he wasn’t being recorded.

“The police let him go b/c he claimed ‘self-defense.’

“He did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn.

“He was shopping under a woman’s identity named Merle… the pic is on my story.”

Angie slammed the animal killer on her Instagram story, calling his actions despicable and inexcusable.

The Texan also highlighted his InstaCart profile, which shows him using the name Merle.

In the emotional post, Angie also wrote: “He shot our dog with my daughters & myself at home & just kept saying, ‘yeah, I shot your dog. Yea, I did.’

“We are completely traumatized & beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved boy & family member.

    “#RIP OLLIE.”

Despite claiming self-defense, Angie revealed that the man hadn’t been bitten or scratched

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) told TMZ that the delivery driver in question did, in fact, claim self-defense on this matter.

They told TMZ: “The investigation revealed that a delivery driver arrived at the residence to deliver consumable goods.

“The driver told officers that a dog attacked him while he was at the residence and that he defended himself by firing a single gunshot, striking and mortally wounding the dog.

“Another dog was present at the residence but did not attack.”

CMPD reportedly said that no criminal charges have been filed over the incident, but CMPD’s Animal Control became embroiled in the situation and is seemingly not seeking out any other parties either.

InstaCart responded to Angie’s allegations, telling Bored Panda: “We were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident.

“We have no tolerance for violence of any kind, and the shopper account was immediately suspended from our platform.

Angie exposed the delivery man’s fake identity, as he used the name “Merle” and a picture of a woman on his profile

“We have been in direct contact with the customer and are cooperating with law enforcement on their investigation.”

Angie, who has been left heartbroken by the event, is an animal lover who has often showcased her interest in various species on social media.

She recently rescued an injured squirrel, nursing them back to health. Angie is also often photographed riding horses.

Angie’s announcement ignited many angered reactions from people sympathizing with the actress

Oscar Wilde once said: "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." I guess I would be that person who's always searching for the beauty in life no matter the circumstances. And what would be more fascinated and more magical than a night sky full of stars?

The Hubble Space Telescope launched into low Earth orbit in 1990s unveiled vast cosmic islands in the endless wild ocean of the universe, and here are some of the most beautiful ones.

    #1 Sombrero Galaxy

The Sombrero galaxy is a peculiar galaxy of unclear classification in the constellation borders of Virgo and Corvus and located around 28 million light-years away from Earth.

    #2 The Black Eye Galaxy

The Black Eye Galaxy is a relatively isolated spiral galaxy 17 million light-years away in the mildly northern constellation of Coma Berenices.

    #3 Hoag’s Object

Hoag's Object is an unusual ring galaxy in the constellation of Serpens Caput. It is identified as either a planetary nebula or a peculiar galaxy. The galaxy has approximately eight billion stars, and is roughly 120,000 light-years across.

Most galaxies are between 10 billion and 13.6 billion years old and some are almost as old as the universe itself, which formed around 13.8 billion years ago. Some of the oldest galaxies observed formed when the universe was only about a billion years old. The scientists think those galaxies started to grow around pockets of space that were slightly denser than their surroundings, an effect created by cosmic inflation when the universe began.

Galaxies consist of stars, planets, and vast clouds of gas and dust, all held together by gravity. The largest one contain trillions of stars and could be more than a million light-years across. The smallest may contain a few thousand stars and span just a few hundred light-years. Most large galaxies have supermassive black holes at their centers, some with billions of times the Sun’s mass.

    #4 Porpoise Galaxy

Porpoise Galaxy or NGC 2936 is an interacting spiral galaxy located at a distance of 326 million light-years, in the constellation Hydra. NGC 2936 is interacting with elliptical galaxy NGC 2937 located just beneath it.

    #5 NGC 2336

NGC 2336 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Camelopardalis. It is located at a distance of circa 100 million light-years from Earth.

    #6 NGC 2207 and IC 2163

NGC 2207 and IC 2163 are a pair of colliding spiral galaxies about 80 million light-years away in the constellation Canis Major.

Before the 20th century, people didn't know other galaxies than the Milky Way; earlier astronomers had classified them as as “nebulae,” since they looked like fuzzy clouds.

It all changed in the 1920s when the astronomer Edwin Hubble showed that the Andromeda “nebula” was a galaxy in its own right. Despite the immense distance, Andromeda is the closest large galaxy to our Milky Way, and it's bright enough in the night sky that it's visible to the naked eye in the Northern Hemisphere.

    #7 W2246-0526

W2246-0526 is the most luminous galaxy ever discovered that is cannibalizing not one, not two, but at least three smaller galaxies, which could explain its extreme brightness.

    #8 Messier 77

Messier 77, also known as NGC 1068 or the Squid Galaxy. It is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Cetus and about 47 million light-years away from Earth.

    #9 The Antennae Galaxies

The Antennae Galaxies are a pair of interacting galaxies in the constellation Corvus. They currently going through a starburst phase, in which the collision of clouds of gas and dust, with entangled magnetic fields, causes rapid star formation.

In 1936, because of Hubble, galaxies were grouped into four main types: spiral galaxies, lenticular galaxies, elliptical galaxies and irregular galaxies.

Interestingly enough, more than two-thirds of all observed galaxies are spiral galaxies that have a flat, spinning disk with a central bulge surrounded by spiral arms.

Elliptical galaxies contain many older stars, but little dust and other interstellar matter. Their stars orbit the galactic center but they do so in more random directions. The universe's largest known one may contain up to a trillion stars and span two million light-years across.

Lenticular galaxies, such as the funny Sombrero Galaxy, are between elliptical and spiral galaxies. They have a thin, rotating disk of stars and a central bulge, but they don't have spiral arms. Like elliptical galaxies, they have little dust and interstellar matter, and they seem to form more often in densely populated regions of space.

The rest of the galaxies are called Irregular - such as the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds. They appear misshapen and lack a distinct form, very often because they are within the gravitational influence of other galaxies close by. They are full of gas and dust, which makes them great nurseries for forming new stars.

#10 Phantom Galaxy or Messier 74

Phantom Galaxy or Messier 74 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation of Pisces and smaller than our own galaxy.

    #11 Sunflower Galaxy

Sunflower Galaxy is a spiral galaxy in the northern constellation of Canes Venatici with approximately 400 billion stars.

    #12 Whirlpool Galaxy

The Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as Messier 51a (M51a) or NGC 5194, is an interacting grand-design spiral galaxy with a Seyfert 2 active galactic nucleus. It lies in the constellation Canes Venatici and was the first galaxy to be classified as a spiral galaxy.

Some galaxies are quite often parts of larger associations known as groups, clusters, and superclusters. For example, the Milky Way is in the Local Group, a galaxy group about 10 million light-years across that also includes the Andromeda galaxy and its satellites.

Sometimes, galaxies collide. Astronomers think the Milky Way and its galactic neighbor Andromeda are set to collide in another 4.5 billion years.

If colliding galaxies don’t have enough momentum to move past each other, they can merge to form a single larger galaxy. Then it can look very different from the two that created it. For example, if a spiral and elliptical merge, the result could be an irregular galaxy.

Some larger galaxies can also eat up the smaller ones through proximity and gravitational interactions, pulling material away to fuel their own growth.

    #13 Galaxy NGC 4696

NGC 4696 is an elliptical galaxy located in the constellation Centaurus. It has a supermassive black hole that beats like a heart every 5 to 10 million years.

#14 Cigar Galaxy Or Messier 82

Cigar Galaxy is a starburst galaxy approximately 12 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major.

    #15 Galaxy NGC 4388

NGC 4388 is an active spiral galaxy in the equatorial constellation of Virgo and located at a distance of 57 million light-years from Earth.

    #16 Galaxy IC 342

IC 342 is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Camelopardalis, located relatively close to the Milky Way.

In 2004, NASA released the Hubble Ultra Deep Field: a tiny part of the constellation Fornax contained around 10,000 galaxies, some of which existed 13 billion years ago, less than 800 million years after the big bang. These types of snapshots are very important for scientists to be able to study galaxies at different evolutionary stages.

    #17 Milky Way

The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy, around 13.6 billion years old and home to our own solar system.

    #18 Galaxy Hockey Stick

The Hockey Stick is a highly warped edge-on barred spiral galaxy located in the local universe 30 million light years away from earth in the constellation Canes Venatici.

    #19 Hamburger Galaxy

NGC 3628, also known as the Hamburger Galaxy or Sarah's Galaxy, is an unbarred spiral galaxy about 35 million light-years away in the constellation Leo.

    #20 Large Magellanic Cloud

Large Magellanic Could is a spiral satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. It is only 160,000 light-years from Earth therefore  visible to the naked eye as a faint object in the Earth's southern hemisphere located between the constellations of Dorado and Mensa.

Nearly 10,000 galaxies that were captured in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field may look like they’re randomly scattered across the sky yet they are often part of larger structures and superstructures in space.

Galaxies, galaxy groups and clusters, superclusters, and galactic walls are arranged in twisting, threadlike structures called the cosmic web. The web forms as the gravitational attraction of the universe’s matter draws larger and larger objects together leading to concentrations of galaxies with voids of space in between, as if the galaxies were resting on empty bubbles. In the places where those concentrations intersect, they form larger structures like clusters and walls. The cosmic web forms a sort of scaffolding that cradles everything that exists within the universe.

    #21 Kiso 5639

Kiso 5639 is a dwarf galaxy, member of a class of "tadpole" galaxies so named because of their bright heads and elongated tails.

    #22 Galaxy NGC 2500

NGC 2500 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Lynx.

    #23 MACS 2129-1

MACS 2129-1 is an early universe so-called 'dead' disk galaxy that lies approximately 10 billion light-years away from Earth. MACS 2129-1 has been described as 'dead' as it has ceased making new stars.

    #24 Andromeda Galaxy

The Andromeda Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy, the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way and the one of the few visible to the naked eye. It is located about 2,480,000 light-years from Earth.

When interviewed for a TV report, many people looking to protect their identities for safety purposes often impose a condition: either their faces must be blurred, or they must be filmed with their backs facing the camera. But not this FBI agent named “Carrie.”

Speaking with the broadcast 60 Minutes for a report on Havana Syndrome, “Carrie” appeared wearing a blonde wig. Naturally, the minimalist disguise left many viewers wondering if they’d been the victim of an April Fools joke.

For those unfamiliar with the term, Havana Syndrome is a mysterious illness characterized by a feeling of dizziness that has affected US diplomats in recent years. It’s believed that the syndrome is linked with Russian sonic weaponry.

Baffled by the simple costume choice, people took to social media to roast the production for their lazy attempt at concealing “Carrie’s” identity.

An FBI agent used only a wig to conceal her identity during an interview with 60 Minutes

“Nobody is ever going to be able to identify this woman”

“This will fool the sort of people who don’t realize Clark Kent is Superman because he wears glasses”

Some pointed to modern technology doing the detective work for them

Of course, people couldn’t help but draw comparisons with the famous Sia wig

Dan Gaut, the father who took a 15-hour flight to prevent his baby daughter from being put up for adoption, is now fighting to be in his child’s life after learning the mother wants to be her primary caregiver.

At the beginning of March, Dan flew from Australia to Austin, Texas, to stop Liv, the mother of his little girl, Ana, from putting her up for adoption.

Now, he says Liv has had a change of heart, and she wants to keep Ana and raise her in the US.

“I feel heartbroken and empty as I’m forced to leave America alone. Liv has changed her mind and wants to keep Ana in the States and be her primary caregiver,” Dan wrote on Instagram on Monday (April 1).

Dan Gaut, the Australian father who traveled 15 hours to stop his ex from putting his baby daughter Ana up for adoption, has shared an update about the case

“I still hold strong the vision of Ana growing up in Australia in the not to[o] distant future,” the carpenter added.

Dan, who lives in Berowra Waters, Sydney’s north shore, met and fell in love with his ex-girlfriend Liv while vacationing in San Francisco in early 2023.

Liv, from Austin, Texas, didn’t want to part ways with Dan, so she followed the carpenter home to Australia, where they agreed to have a baby.

However, the pair didn’t have a happily-ever-after, as a homesick Liv returned to Texas following her pregnancy announcement.

Little did Dan know that Liv wouldn’t return, as his ex-partner revealed in an upsetting call.

As Dan announced on social media, the baby’s mother has changed her mind and wants to be Ana’s primary caregiver in America

“I was actually leaving the job site as she’s telling me the news that she got back with her ex-partner,” Dan told the Australian outlet A Current Affair.

“I couldn’t believe it; what is happening? Like, you’re pregnant with my daughter?”

The father was then hit with another surprise, one that was even more concerning: Liv had started looking for adoption options in Texas. “I said, ‘No, stop, don’t promise her to anyone, this is against all my morals,'” he told ACA.

As he didn’t have the funds to cover the travel expenses, Dan started a crowd-funding page to travel to Austin, organize an Australian passport, and bring his little girl home.

“I feel heartbroken and empty as I’m forced to leave America alone,” the father wrote

While he may have missed baby Ana’s birth, the proud dad was able to meet her after setting foot in the US.

In an interview he gave after meeting Ana, then two days old, Dan said: “She’s just the cutest little thing, she’s so good, she’s just adorable and just picture perfect.”

“It was like whatever apprehension or possibly awkwardness I might’ve been thinking about at that moment just dissolved.

“The love for her took over, and it was like such a magical, loving moment that I just, just couldn’t wait to hold her.

“She’s just a little angel, really chill, which is phenomenal; I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Dan, who lives in Berowra Waters, Sydney’s north shore, met and fell in love with his ex-girlfriend Liv while vacationing in San Francisco in early 2023

At the time, the carpenter said that his ex-girlfriend had expressed interest in being in Ana’s life, but he didn’t know “how exactly [it was] going to go” once he returned to Australia.

Now, Dan has informed his followers, who have supported him throughout his life-changing journey, that he’ll be using the money from his crowd-funding campaign to seek legal representation so that he can remain in Ana’s life.

“I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who supported me on this journey,” the father wrote.

“I will use the remaining donations to seek legal representation in Austin and to visit Ana as often as I can.”

In a separate post, the father announced that Ana has her Australian citizenship and passport.

People supported Dan’s fight to be in his daughter’s life

BBC’s Antiques Roadshow confronted a historical artifact with a past so dark that it left expert Ronnie Archer-Morgan at a loss for words – or rather, a price.

On the popular show, people often bring in old relics or heirlooms from their attics, hoping they might be worth something. However, the recent episode, filmed against the picturesque backdrop of Alexandra Gardens in Cardiff, took an unexpected turn when a guest presented an item deeply entangled with the grim history of the slave trade.

“The item was a disc that acted as an endorsement of the professional reputation of an African slave trader in the West African port of Bonny in the 18th century,” host Fiona Bruce said in a voiceover.

Ronnie inspected the item and said it was an “amazing” find despite being associated with the “callous trade” of humans from the 17th to 19th centuries.

Ronnie Archer-Morgan said the item, brought on BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, was “about trading in human life”

“I want to make it absolutely clear that myself and we and the Antiques Roadshow wholly and unequivocally disapprove of the trade in ivory,” Ronnie told the woman who brought the item on the show. “But this ivory bangle here is not about trading in ivory, it’s about trading in human life, and it’s probably one of the most difficult things that I’ve ever had to talk about. But talk about it we must.”

The woman who brought the item revealed on the show that she got hold of the object from a family she used to look after.

“One of the members passed away and she was having a house sale,” she recalled. “And I bought that 36 years ago in the house sale for £3.”

The disc, which featured some beautiful calligraphy, had the trader’s name, Prince Jemmy of Grandy, inscribed. Ronnie believed the trader was an African himself and described him as a “despicable human being.”

The woman who appeared on the show with the item said she bought it for £3

He also explained to viewers that the words “honest fellow” were also engraved on the item.

“I’d like to meet him and tell him how honest I think he is,” Ronnie said on the show.

The Antiques Roadshow star went on to say that he feels it’s his “cultural duty” to talk about the subject because his own “great-grandmother was a returned slave from Nova Scotia in Canada and came back to Sierra Leone and Freetown.”

Ronnie refused to put a value on the item that was associated with enslaved people

“I just don’t want to value it,” he finally said. “I do not want to put a price on something that signifies such an awful business.”

“But the value is in the lessons that this can tell people. The value is in researching this and what we can find out,” he added. “And I just love you for bringing it to the roadshow.”

Shakira, who has publicly challenged traditional gender roles and advocated for women’s empowerment, candidly revealed that Greta Gerwig’s 2023 movie Barbie “emasculated” her sons.

Featuring in Allure’s new April cover story, the Lebanese-Colombian songstress spoke about the beauty standards she grew up with.

“My idol was Wonder Woman,” Shakira told the publication.

She continued: “I think I was drawn to her because she had black hair like mine, but also because she was a symbol of empowerment and strength in a decade where women were not playing the most important roles.”

Shakira revealed in her new cover story for Allure that the Barbie movie “emasculated” her two sons

“I remember my mom stopped working at some point.

“She stopped wearing miniskirts, and the length of her skirts got longer because my dad said so.”

Upon learning from the interviewer about a professor who highlighted Colombia’s conservative culture, emphasizing the traditional belief that men should wield power while women are responsible for beauty, the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker replied: “I heard that by 2030, 60% of the world’s wealth will be managed by women.”

The exchange between Shakira and the reporter prompted a conversation about the Oscar-winning Barbie movie, which the 47-year-old artist admitted she had watched with her two sons, 9-year-old Sasha and 11-year-old Milan, whom she shares with her ex-partner, Gerard Piqué.

After being asked what she thought about the film notable for discussing themes related to feminism and capitalism, Shakira revealed: “My sons absolutely hated it.

“They felt that it was emasculating.

“And I agree, to a certain extent.

    “I’m raising two boys.

“I want ’em to feel powerful too [while] respecting women.

“I like pop culture when it attempts to empower women without robbing men of their possibility to be men, to also protect and provide.

“I believe in giving women all the tools and the trust that we can do it all without losing our essence, without losing our femininity.

“I think that men have a purpose in society and women have another purpose as well.

“We complement each other, and that complement should not be lost.”

The interviewer went on to ask the musician if her statement implied that although women are capable of handling multiple responsibilities, it doesn’t necessarily mean they should bear the burden alone.

Shakira subsequently reinforced the notion of sharing responsibilities with those who are deserving and obligated to do so.

“Why not share the load with people who deserve to carry it, who have a duty to carry it as well?” the singer said.

Shakira further elaborated on her thoughts regarding beauty ideals, saying: “Of course, I’d put on my mascara and straighten my hair occasionally.

“It felt sexy, and I used that raw sensuality many times on stage as a way of expressing myself.

“But I think I rely on other aptitudes rather than just beauty.”

Allure’s cover story follows a recent interview where, appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her new album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran [Women No Longer Cry], Shakira got brutally honest about her ex Piqué.

She told Jimmy: “I’ve been putting out music here and there, but I think it was really hard for me to put together a body of work.

“I didn’t have time. It was the husband factor.

    “Now I’m husband-less.”

The Colombian star, who was in a relationship with the Spanish footballer for 11 years, added: “The husband was dragging me down. Now I’m free! Now I can actually work!”

Shakira’s remarks about Barbie sparked backlash, with many people saying she missed the point of the movie

Heirlooms and traditions are meant to be protected and respected. They’re what help connect all the different generations in your family tree with a shared heritage. Not only that, but they’re often very physical reminders of the people we love who have passed on.

Bored Panda has collected some of the most impressive and unusual examples of family heirlooms ever from all around the internet. It’s proof that you don’t have to inherit a chest full of jewels and gold doubloons for something to be valuable. Scroll down to see what some families’ legacies look like.

#1 A Family Member Passed Away And I Inherited Their Cat

#2 My Paternal Great-Grandfather, Harry, Proposed To My Great-Grandmother, Edith, With This Five-Stone Opal Engagement Ring Full Of Fire. I Inherited It After My Grandmother Passed Away In 1990

Not sure of the year they married, but my grandfather was born (in wedlock) in 1908, so the ring and box are 113+ years old! The box is as fascinating as the ring. It is leather, velvet-lined, hinged, and secured with a latch hook. Most importantly to me, inside the ring, alongside the Maker's Marks, is the inscription "With Harry's Love".

#3 I Just Inherited An 1864 Steinway & Sons Style 1 Rococo Grand Piano

No matter how wonderful or extravagant inheritances can be, they can be emotionally messy and physically tiring to sort out. First of all, you’re likely still mourning the loss of a loved one. If you were particularly close, you will need lots of time and support to accept what has happened, to heal, and continue living your life. So, you’re probably not even thinking about what heirlooms they left you in their will.

Another issue is that even if you loved someone very dearly, you still most likely might have to give up some of the things they left you. Unless you have a very large home or you’re blessed with plenty of storage, you couldn’t possibly accommodate every tiny little thing they were sentimental about, from furniture and photo albums to hobby knick-knacks and a hundred different dolls they collected.

#6 Inherited This From My Grandpa. He Bought It New

If your relative was a particularly energetic collector (or had a gentle inclination toward hoarding), you might find yourself having to sort through boxes and boxes of things.

Some of these items might be historically valuable, and you’d like to keep them. Others might have had a deep sentimental value to their original owner that might be lost on you.

#9 My Grandma's Prized Calamondin Orange Tree, Which I Inherited. She Passed Away Last Week

But the reality is that many of the things you’ve inherited may have no real place in your home. You might not want them, or they might simply not (physically) fit at home. And holding on to hundreds of things out of guilt is no way to go through life.

Some of the items you find while sorting through your loved one’s home might be worth selling or donating to charity if they’re in good enough condition. Others, inevitably, might have to be thrown away… or subtly given to your other relatives to see if they’d like them.

#10 My Grandfather's Pencil Sharpener Collection I Inherited

Some backstory behind this: my grandfather died before I was born. My family always told me how genuinely nice and cool he was, even to strangers. Growing up, whenever I visited my grandparents' house, I would see a shelf proudly displaying his collection. My grandmother passed away when I was 18 or 19, and none of my father's six siblings or my father himself were going to claim the collection of sharpeners. I couldn't let it go to waste.

AARP suggests going through your family photo albums one at a time to figure out which pictures your relatives may want to keep in the future. From our perspective, all photos are valuable. However, from a practical standpoint, you need to prioritize what you leave behind if you have dozens and dozens of albums.

#14 I Inherited This Toaster From The 1920s Around 10 Years Ago And It Has Worked Great Every Single Day

#15 A Massive Wrench I Inherited. Weighs Over 30 Pounds. Novelty Or Functional?

The same goes for toys, furniture, artwork, etc.: ideally, you sort out what’s worth keeping from what you have a superficial attachment to. It really helps if you have someone you care about by your side as you’re doing some spring cleaning. Another perspective is often helpful.

#16 This 1985 Spirit Of St. Louis Field Radio Was Passed Down To Me From My Grandpa

#17 My Grandparents Had This Lamp In Their House Since At Least The Early 70s. Pretty Sure It Was A Ceiling Lamp At One Time, But I Inherited It And Kept It As A Desk Lamp

To my surprise, it’s made from uranium glass.

#18 Made A Bar Of Soap Out Of My Father-In-Law’s Inherited 110-Year-Old Soap Press For His Birthday (Stanley Soap Co. Est. 1865, NYC)

Stanley is indeed their family name. His great-grandfather was John T. Stanley, who emigrated from England to the United States in 1860 at the age of 17. He was skilled in soap and candle making at the time however, his first job was in collecting animal fat from around the city. Now my history of how he parlayed this trade into soap making is a bit hazy at the moment but I’ll be sure to get the full story after we blow out some candles on my father-in-law’s cake.

At the end of the day, you choose what to do with your inheritance. If you’ve been handed down a gorgeous signet ring, massive family photo album, gilded spellbook, stylish car, high-quality tools, or a magical sword, then everything’s pretty clear: you take good care of these items until you can pass them on to the next generation.

In this case, it’s very obvious that these items have a long and storied history that’s worth preserving.

#20 I've Inherited All These Things

#21 My Grandmother Gifted Me With This Ring A Few Years Before She Passed Away. I Loved It Because It Was From Her, And Because It Was Totally Strange

Recently, I showed my mom and aunt (her daughters), and neither had ever seen it before. I'm guessing it's a treasure my grandfather brought home from his Navy or Merchant Marine adventures. Initially, I thought it was costume jewelry, goldtone cloisonne. However, I recently discovered it's 22k solid gold, enamel-painted, made in Spain in the 1940s or 1950s, which is why I think my grandfather had a hand in this. My grandmother likely gifted it to me because I'm a total water, beach, boat, and fish lover! I've never seen anything like it, but I'm hoping someone else has. Isn't he funky and fierce? Look at those teeth!

It can be a huge help if the person leaving behind their things mentions what is and isn’t important and why in their will. It’s easy to assume that absolutely everyone will know not to throw away a respected family heirloom, but not everyone might know their own history in such detail.

If the heirloom is slightly unusual (like a vintage toaster, quality iron waffle maker, or old-timey radio), you might need some guidance and a gentle reminder that what you have is genuinely good, even if it doesn’t glitter like gold.

#23 My Best Friend Passed Away Unexpectedly A Few Months Ago. We Were Both Hardcore Gamers And I Inherited His Tangible Collection And Added It To My Much Smaller One And Made A Tribute To Him

Some of these things he had since he was barely out of diapers. There are so many gems here.

#24 My Grandpa's Razor I Inherited. Used To Shave With Him (Without Razor In) When Little. 25 Years Later, I'm Here, Cleaned It Up And Threw a New Razor In. 1940s Gold Plated DE

All that being said, it’s a reminder that you shouldn’t rely just on your will to remind everyone that your family has an important legacy to preserve. It’s very important to maintain this living knowledge throughout your life. A big part of that is doing research into your family’s roots, recounting stories from the past, and maintaining family traditions.

    #25 Great-Great-Grandmother's Necklace

By request, here is the other piece of jewelry from my great-great-grandmother!  Unfortunately, there are no maker marks on this one or that's the case, either.

#26 I Inherited These Vintage Drawing Tools From My Grandpa. It Probably Belonged To My Great-Grandpa. It Came With A Vintage "How To Sketch" Book

#27 I Inherited A Century-Old Cast Iron Waffle Maker This Christmas. It Still Cooks Amazing Waffles

It’s not quite 100, but it will be in the next year. My great-grandfather purchased it new. I remember eating waffles fresh out of it at my grandmother’s house thirty years ago. My mom has had it for the past fifteen years and decided to gift it to me this Christmas, as she knows I love cast iron cookery.

Now, the family traditions themselves don’t have to be anything overly elaborate—though they can be! What’s important is that your family has traditions and you all get together, not the specific details of how you do things. Getting together for a meal every Sunday can be a wonderful tradition.

It might even eventually turn your pancake pan or waffle maker into veterans of a thousand brunches and highly coveted heirlooms. However, keep in mind that the items themselves have to be made of quality materials and with excellent craftsmanship to stand the test of time.

#30 Today Is My Daughter's 5th Birthday, And Today She Inherited My Beloved Childhood Dollhouse

All ready for the birthday girl! I've been fixing up all the furniture and making new bits for it for the last few weeks. Kitchen, as a surprise for me, my amazing brother carefully dismantled the whole house, packed it up, and shipped it over to our UK home from Canada where it had been in storage. Master, still have to fix up the baby's cot which will go with the rocker. My sister-in-law made the tufted rug. In the living room, the rug is a squirrel skin my mother was gifted in the 5th grade from a boy who had a crush on her. Bathroom! the majority of the furniture (and the house itself) was purchased in Germany in the early '90s when my military dad was posted there (we lived there for 5 years.) In the kids' room, my mum has made the bunks new bedding since this photo was taken. The cars for the car mat are buttons. And in the entryway, the lights are strings of fairy lights with the battery packs strategically hidden. I didn't want to do anything too permanent, so they're just taped up for now.

It’s not currently running and is missing the crystal and the second hand, but otherwise, in great condition. I’m picking up the hobby of watch repair, so when I become proficient, I’m going to fix it up and give it back to her. A little research shows this as a Waltham Colonial Series Royal. I’ll take off the case in the future and get the serial number to get a more exact date of manufacture. Looking forward to getting this all fixed and running.

I love pink and glitter as much as the next person, but I don’t need everything that I own, including razors, power tools and underwear, to be exuding femininity. I just want them to work well and not cost twice as much as the versions designed for men!

Women on Reddit have recently been calling out all of the products and procedures they have to deal with that were clearly designed by men for women. From the discomfort of getting a mammogram or IUD to the frustration of trying to find comfortable clothes that actually fit properly, you’re likely to relate to many of the replies down below if you’re a woman. But regardless of your gender, enjoy scrolling through and be sure to upvote the things you find most infuriating!

    #32

Let's be real here: *most* things.

    #33

So this is pretty niche but I'm a fencer and the chest protectors that women are required to wear are shaped like a Barbie's boobs. I wrote a whole article about it which went absolutely viral in fencing spaces. We're working on a redesign but it's very hard to engineer something that works for all people and doesn't cost three times more.

The tl:dr is that they don't fit right and they don't scale well for larger people AT ALL (but they also don't scale well for small people). They are required because getting poked in the boobs really hard can give you a lump (not cancer, still bad). In the survey we did afterwards we also learned that they contribute to discomfort and dysmorphia among trans and nonbinary folks, and they lead to stupid comments and sometimes bullying among kids and teens.

Edit: I mean fencing as in the sport in the Olympics where we hit each other with blunted swords. Not the fence in your backyard or the person selling stolen goods on the black market.

Also, there are other styles of chest protectors beyond the barbie boobs but none of them really work for people who aren't very flat-chested. These are detailed in the linked post.

Yeah, men please stop designing women's clothes, thanks.

    #42

Not quite what you were looking for but skincare and cosmetics. It was still a largely male dominated industry up until the 90s. In many countries the key decision makers in “big beauty retail” is still men. Men still hold most of the purse strings in the industry people just don’t know it or are too lazy to recognise it.

    #44

Tampax (and possibly other brands) tampons. It swells in length instead of getting wider when expanding. It's pushing you in spots nobody wants to ever feel pressure imo, it's just not correct anatomically speaking.

Apparently, many got genuinely sick from using them due to this (I haven't seen any official reports tbf, just reading it up on the internet and some anecdotal evidence) and it's causing pain for others, including me. It hurt like hell, and definitely was not comfortable at all at any point. You just cannot not feel it.

When I lived in the UK, I either had to spend a smaller fortune on buying OB tampons from various sites on the internet or ask someone to bring me some when they were visiting a country that had them, as they're not being sold in the UK. I tried several other brands, including Lidl and drugstores' own brands, and while OB was the best in my opinion, most were not as uncomfortable as Tampax was besides a few. I do apologise for not naming more, but Tampax is the most common as far as I've seen and I've tried so many brands I just can't remember their names.

    Edit:typo.

    #45

Underwear, because it nearly never fits. Always rides up. Especially when those high cut 80s things came out there were no proper fitting ones anymore, eventually I found boyleg undies, but they are still different from what they used to make. Plus the double fabric is in the wrong place. Definitely must be designed by men, women wouldn’t do that.

    #46

Not as much these days, but kitchens. More men cook now than previously, but kitchens are still used more by women, and mostly designed by men. My husband was a good cook, we shared the kitchen. But things I couldn't reach were no problem for him. We both hated the kitchen in this house, (I still do) but we never got around to changing it.

TBH, I don't know how well the average person, any make or model, would do at designing a kitchen. You'd have to build 'em and use 'em to find the flaws, and figure out how to do it better. Things don't always work in practice, as well as they looked on paper. Or in the computer program.

Some days were simply made for singing Daniel Powter’s ‘Bad Day’; and while the reasons for such performances tend to differ from person to person, one thing that they all have in common is that no one’s immune to a bad day every once in a while.

Since many people nowadays like to capture their life in pictures and videos, there are arguably millions of records of days that did not go as anticipated, many of which end up being shared online. That is where we have found these pictures of people not having the best of days, which work as a great reminder that they, too, shall pass. Scroll down to see what has made people’s “blue skies fade to gray”, and remember that the skies ought to clear up again sometime.

There’s never a good day to have a bad day; being a ball of negative emotion doesn’t really make life for you or those around you any easier. Yet it’s also not easy to snap out of such a state when it seems that everything is going downhill. Fast.

Be that as it may, it’s worth giving certain calming techniques a go, as they can help us deal with certain unfavorable situations more easily.

“Once you become emotionally overwhelmed, your prefrontal lobes, the rational part of your brain goes offline, and your thoughts tend to go down rabbit holes, lose perspective, only making your mood worse. Your goal is to take the time to calm yourself so you can get your rational brain back online, and begin to see the situation more clearly and realistically and come up with a plan to solve the problem,” Robert Taibbi told Bored Panda, expanding on why it is important to try to control your emotions when something unforeseen happens.

When discussing the best ways to get a grip on your emotions, Taibbi suggested that it’s best to look at it as a two-part process. “Part one is trying to calm down. Start by simply acknowledging how you are feeling—saying to yourself that you’re feeling anxious can help you feel less anxious.

“Obviously, getting support, talking to someone who cares about you can help,” he added. “Deep breathing helps calm your mind. Becoming mindful and focusing on something intently—your surroundings, what you’re doing—can get you out of your head.

“Write down how you’re feeling or exercise—doing 10 minutes of vigorous exercise increases your endorphins,” the expert suggested, adding that self care—like taking a hot bath—or listening to music you like can help, too.

“Part two is coming up with a plan,” Taibbi continued. “The plan may be to wait and tackle the problem when you’re more calm and clear-headed, or think of the worst-case scenario and plan for that to help stop the obsessing, or talk to someone to get better ideas.”

Keeping your emotions in check is crucial not only for your relationships with others—which are likely to be affected if one is led by their emotions too much—but your health, too. Take anger, for instance; the American Psychological Association (APA) emphasized that such an emotion can lead to coronary heart disease and stress-related problems, including insomnia, digestive problems and headaches, in addition to a tendency to violent and risky behavior and damaged relationships.

#14 It’s Christmas Eve And I Caught Scarlet Fever

APA suggested that keeping anger at bay can be done with the help of a few steps. First and foremost, it’s important to try not to let anger flourish, which calls for being aware of certain warning signs, signaling that you might be close to the anger zone. Upon recognizing such signs, it’s necessary to either step away from the situation or turn to certain techniques that can help you control the emotions that are building up.

#17 My Partner Was So Happy She Found A Specific Vinyl For £2.50 On eBay. Turns Out It's For A Doll's House

Another important step to take in order to manage such negative emotions as anger more easily is focusing on your mindset. Firstly, while it’s not always easy, it’s important not to dwell on certain aggravating situations, especially if the issue has already been resolved. Clinging on to an infuriating event in the past is unproductive at best.

Secondly, when you’re angry, it’s best to try and focus on the positive, instead of the negative that can make you feel like things are worse than they actually are. According to APA, using a technique known as cognitive restructuring can help get rid of the negative “everything is bad” thoughts and replace them with a more favorable “this is frustrating, but it’s not the end of the world”.

#20 I Broke My Left Hand And Right Wrist

APA also emphasized the importance of taking deep breaths and exercising, among other things, both of which were accentuated by Robert Taibbi, too. And while knowing and using such techniques in order not to let emotions overwhelm you can have a positive influence on your well-being, feeling a bit down sometimes is just part of being human, and can even have a silver lining.

“Negative emotions are simply a part of life, which not only help us appreciate the positive, but—often embedded in difficult situations—are also lessons to be learned and carried forward that help us make running our lives easier,” Taibbi suggested.
